Lesson Plan

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. illustrate the angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal;
2. name the angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal; and
3. describe the angles formed by parallel lines cut by a transversal.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Development of the lesson
Study this figure

1 2
3 4

56
7 8
a. Angles 1, 2, 7, and 8 are exterior angles.
b. Angles 3, 4, 5, and 6 are interior angles.
c. Angles 1 and 5 are corresponding angles. Based on the figure, can you give
other
angles which can be called corresponding angles?
d. Angles 3 and 6 are alternate-interior angles. Name another alternate-
interior
angles.
e. Angles 1 and 8 are alternate-exterior angles. Name another alternate-
exterior
angles.
2. Activity
Divide the students into four (4) groups.
Group 1
Illustrate a figure, show m l l n with o as transversal.
Name:
a. 4 pairs of corresponding angles
b. 2 pairs of alternate-interior angles

Group 2
Illustrate a figure, show a l l b with c as transversal.
Name:
a. 4 pairs of corresponding angles
b. 2 pairs of alternate-interior angles

Group 3
Illustrate a figure, show m l l n with o as transversal.
Name:
a. 2 pairs of alternate-exterior angles
b. 2 pairs of interior angles on the same side of the transversal
c. 2 pairs of exterior angles on the same side of the transversal

Group 4
Illustrate a figure, show a l l b with c as transversal.
Name:
a. 2 pairs of alternate-exterior angles
b. 2 pairs of interior angles on the same side of the transversal
c. 2 pairs of exterior angles on the same side of the transversal

Guide Questions:
For group 1 and 2
1. What is the position of the corresponding angles with respect to a
transversal?
Describe their vertices.
2. What is the position of alternate-interior angles with respect to a
transversal?
For group 3 and 4
1. What is the position of alternate-exterior angles with respect to a
transversal?
2. What is the position of interior angles on the same side of the transversal?
exterior angles on the same side of the transversal?

Discussion of the Activity

A member of each group will discuss the result of their activity.
C. Summary of the Lesson
• Corresponding angles consist of two non-adjacent angles on the same side
of a transversal, one in the interior and the other in the exterior.
• Alternate-interior angles consist two non-adjacent interior angles on the
opposite side of a transversal. They have same measure.
• Alternate-exterior angles consist two non-adjacent exterior angles on the
opposite side of a transversal. They have same measure.
