Forum Grading Rubric and Directions

• Remember "netiquette": polite, substantive, and eloquent


responses.

• You all understand polite.


• Substantive means that your responses should be
thorough and complete, addressing each aspect of the
question.
• Finally, please write well: complete sentences, proper
grammar, full details. I suggest you type out your
posts first in a document, save it, and thus have a
back-up if something gets lost! Absolutely no “text
message” English allowed.

Scoring

5 Completion: initiates at least one original post and


responds to at least two posts from others
5 Substantive: posts are thorough and thoughtful, with well-
developed ideas
5 Specific: quotes at least one passage as evidence for ideas;
posts are detailed and show a close reading of the text
5 Etiquette: engages others' ideas politely; skillfully uses
clear, forceful, and precise language: formal English with
proper spelling, punctuation, and engaging voice
