LESSON PLAN

Date: September 2nd, 2010 Level: 2nd High school Time: 90’

Topic: “ Learning about computers”

Outcomes: The students will read and understand a text about e-mails, how they work and the
different parts of an e-mail web page. They will identify the different parts of a
computer, and the differences between a desktop and a laptop.

Skill(s): Speaking / Reading

Resources: Reading text, handouts, flash cards., board, markers

Introduction 15’ The students will greet the teacher


Roll calling
Students will put their white coats on
Students will answer the question: What color are my
clothes?
The students will play bingo in groups

Core of the class 20‘ The students are introduced to the topic by showing them
Pre-stage some flashcards with pictures of computers, their parts and
the names of each. They will learn the difference between
desktops and laptops. They will be asked about e-mails,
what they are, what are they for, what the different parts of
an e-mail web page are. They will receive handouts and
will identify all those parts on their worksheet. They will
match each of the components of the e-mail with their
definition.

While-stage 30’ Students will answer some pre reading questions


concerning to a reading text called “sending an e-mail”.
Students will read the first part of the text. They will
highlight all the new words. The teacher will read the text
again with them and answer the vocabulary questions.
Students will answer some questions and activities
concerning this first part of the text.

Post-stage 20’ The students will read the second part of the text, and
highlight the words they don’t understand. The questions
will be clarified and they will answer some short exercises
about the reading.

10’ Students will share their reflections about the previous


Closing exercise. The teacher will give them a summary of the
class and will ask about the thing they learn.
As homework, the students will send an e- mail to the
teacher.
Students say good bye to the teacher.
