Rationale

People know that health is wealth. A healthy individual can

maximize his potential in giving a good outcome in his society.
Being healthy makes one more productive in any field he is into
and he can have lesser chances of acquiring diseases. With the
existence of countless diseases nowadays, every individual must
be prepared in protecting himself for an ounce of prevention is
better than a pound of cure.

Moreover, with the increasing demands of basic commodities,

it is better for an individual to be free from any sickness
because if otherwise, it will just be an additional burden for
the family who is already undergoing problems such as poverty
and of the like.

Barangay Damilisan is one of the oldest barangays of the

municipality of Miagao. It is considered to be the most
progressive barangay among others in Miagao as seen from the
beautiful houses along the highway. At present there are 239
households and a total population of 1432. It has a total land
area of 65 hectares with 20 hectares for agriculture, 44
hectares of residential lands, and one hectare of commercial
lands.

Today, Barangay Damilisan is headed by Barangay Captain

Rogelio Gayom Sr. with the help of many officials, health
workers and day care center facilitators. It also has a monthly
visiting doctor and nurse from the Municipality of Miagao. As a
usual project of the barangay, they are having seminar lectures
or information gathering whenever the season of certain
illnesses is fast approaching.
 As the proponents of this said project were interviewing
different families, mothers and children in the barangay, they
had found out that the residents of Barangay Damilisan are
experiencing problems regarding health especially some common
sicknesses such as cold, sore eyes, asthma and many others.
Therefore, there is a need to conduct lectures on proper hygiene
and sanitation, proper nutrition, exercise, educational
activities and awareness programs on the different types of
diseases so as to prevent the spread of communicable diseases
and for people to basically be healthy. Children between 3-6
years of age, with their parents, will be participating in the
said activity which will be held in the Daycare Center of
Barangay Damilisan, Miagao, Iloilo.

Not only these, because the proponents of this project also

noticed the lack of resources for educational materials in its
day care center, the team will donate educational materials such
as story books, story-telling devices, coloring books, some
school supplies and many more in the day care center in order to
increase the interest of preschoolers in learning.

Statement of the Problem

How could the proponents increase the awareness of children

between 3-6 years old and their parents on sanitation in
Barangay Damilisan, Miagao, Iloilo?

Project Goals

Generally, the proponents aim to educate the people of

Barangay Damilisan on living a healthy life through proper
hygiene and sanitation.

Project Proposal Summary

Overall, the proponents have two goals to accomplish: to

educate both the young and the adults of Barangay Damilisan on
how to be healthy with approved methods on practicing proper
hygiene and sanitation, proper nutrition and exercise through
lectures as well as awareness programs on the different types of
diseases and to increase the interest of preschoolers donate
educational materials such as secondhand books and of the like.
