Five Little Ducks
Five little ducks
Went out one day
Over the hill and far away
Mother duck said
"Quack, quack, quack, quack."
But only four little ducks came back.
...
One little duck...
But none of the five little ducks came back.
Five Little Monkeys
Five little monkeys, jumping on the bed,
One fell off and bumped his head,
So Momma called the doctor and the doctor said,
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed!”
Ten Fat Sausages
Ten fat sausages sizzling in a pan
One went pop! and one went bang!
Eight fat sausages sizzling in a pan
One went pop! and one went bang!
Six fat sausages sizzling in a pan
One went pop! and one went bang!
Four fat sausages sizzling in a pan
One went pop! and one went bang!
Two fat sausages sizzling in a pan
One went pop! and one went bang!
NO Fat sausages left sizzling in the pan
The children like this as a felt board story or a finger play. They love it as an
action rhyme where you pick the children to be the sausages and they get to
wriggle and sizzle and then pop! and bang! learning to take away by two's at
the same time. To reinforce ask the children to recount how many are left after
each two are gone.

Along comes (child's name) with a dollar pay,
He/She buys a cream bun and takes it away.
(Use children to act as cream buns - continue with four, three two and one).

bottle of rum to fill my tum, and that's the life for me.'
Stand at attention like a soldier,
With a one, two, and three.Ó

It rolled off the table,
And on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.
It rolled in the garden,
And under a bush,
And then my poor meatball,
Was nothing but mush.
The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be,
And then the next summer,
It grew into a tree.
The tree was all covered,
All covered with moss,
And on it grew meatballs,
And tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball,
Whenever you sneeze.
Nobody Likes Me (Guess I’ll go eat worms)
Nobody loves me, everybody hates me
Guess I'll go and eat worms

See how they wriggle and squirm.
I bite off the heads, and suck out the juice
And throw the skins away
Nobody knows how fat I grow
On worms three times a day.
