making more elaborate sentences: The sentence
“Good tests are short” is made from two kernel
sentences: (1) “Tests are short.” (2) “(The) tests
are good.”

18-1 [Emphatic Negative Sentence (EMPH-NEG-S)]
A kernel sentence(K-S) may expand into another sentence(S) with a new
grammatical meaning {Emphatic Negation} added, which in this book is called
an emphatic negative sentence, or, EMPH-NEG-S.
Emphatic negative sentences (1b) and (2b) are derived from kernel sentences
(1a) and (2a) respectively.

Por tanto, el análisis de las estructuras en que se presenta el
significado, nos ayuda a entender mejor los mensajes a traducir,
también a buscar unidades fundamentales de significado, y
finalmente, nos ayuda a generar nuevas y complejas oraciones,
textos, dialogos, discursos, etc.
