MAKRO, HILLINGTON PARK, GLASGOW

CBES successfully carried out the installation of M&E

Client: services (detailed below) at the refurbished and extended
Makro Makro Retail Outlet in Hillington Glasgow. The works were
completed on time and on budget and were carried out in
Architect: conjunction with the Main Contract works overseen by BAM
Leach Rhodes & Construction.

HVAC and plumbing works for Makro included:

• The strip out and removal of old boiler plant and associated asbestos insulation
• Supply and installation of new boiler plant and associated controls
• New gas installation to feed gas fired heaters on the shop floor
• Refurbishment and upgrade of existing wet heating system in staff and back of house areas
• Plumbing and ventilation installations to kitchens, staff and colleagues toilets
• Installation of gas fired over door heaters to customer entrance and exit areas.

Electrical Works included:

• Electrical Mains Upgrade

• Supply and installation of a new main switchboard
• Supply and Installation of a “full load” store generator, associated fuel tank and pipework
• Supply and installation of a complete new lighting installation including a PLC driven lighting control system
• Installation of a complete new emergency lighting
• Installation of a complete new fire alarm
• Small power rationalisation
• Installation of electrical supplies associated with refrigeration and bakery equipment

Works were carried out over a twenty six week period and were completed to
programme and to budget with absolutely no loss of trading to the store. This
success was despite the lighting system being redesigned after the project start
date and the late instruction to upgrade the store heating system.
