Select a magazine article from any issue that discusses a specific project using
structural steel that interests you. No two students may choose the same structure.
After reading the article, write a 2 3 page narrative (in your own words) and include
following:
1. List the specific issue and article that you selected. Also, list the authors of the
article. For example, February, 2007, Tunnel Vision

2. Describe the nature of the project, i.e., occupancy, size, location, architect,
structural engineer and contractor. Include at least one picture.
3. Describe in detail the structural frame system(s). Include picture(s) as
necessary. Also, discuss the computer structural analysis/design software (if
any) that was used by the engineers.
4. Describe in detail what makes this particular project innovative and interesting
from the standpoint of the structure.
5. Describe the challenges the structure posed to the architect and/or structural
engineer. Discuss how these challenges were met.
