Gainsharing programs are often established in order to improve workers productivity and
involvement in production process. It is also determined that the management receives higher
level of performance through the participation of workers in workplace because of this program
and also in this system as the busin1ess improves its productivity the savings is shared between
all employees. However it is considered that gainsharing is totally different with profit sharing.
Gainsharing program both motivates and demotivates the employees. Also it is one of the
main key used by many businesses to increase profitability of business by motivating employees.
As for the whirlpool corporation the employees were very much motivated by the program as
they themselves looks ways to reduce cost in workplace. Because of gainsharing it result
employees to take their responsibilities in the best way. They also got chance to improve in their
work.
On the other hand, gain sharing has many merits in it. First of all because of gainsharing
program, employees have an opportunity to earn bonus profit. Moreover it helps to promote
positive attitude towards the organization, which also will help workers in their future work.
As employees involves in work force they get time to focus on their work even better and
makes their talent more skill full. They also get awareness about how to increase productivity by
working smarter rather than working harder. As employees involve and participates more in the
work the more they enhance the level of involvement and corporation for the work.
Apart from all those, employees learn to work as a team together with both skill and UN skill
staffs which makes them feel the ownership and accountability of work in workplace.
Gainsharing also helps workers to be rewarded for the improvement. It does not only benefit
the workers but also for the arrangement too.

As employees are being supported it significantly enhances long-term effectiveness of


gainsharing. Because of it the management requires frequent training and ongoing
communication of workers to go on due to it, the production gets better day by day so, it brings a
positive change to be promoted and makes a continuous improvement within the business plus
employees are motivated to be self-funded from savings generated by the plan.
A part from all these gainsharing programs also demotivates the workers somehow, because
as gain are shared between workers it leads profit to get down within the business.
In addition to it, for a gainsharing program the workers has to be the style of working plus the
management style also has to be changed. It must be a participation management style. So, it will
be very difficult. And also, the management should openly share information related to
performance measure of workers which might demotivated the workers in the business moreover
employees may doubt about the management decision that might oppose impact a gain.
Likely, gainsharing increase the organization. Stress level since everyone such as
management and employees other staffs has more of a financial stake in the organizational
success.
And also sometimes it demotivates the individual workers as gainsharing program best
applies to working environment that requires teamwork. In addition to it as gains are shared after
comparing the performance of group work rather than individually. So for those individual
workers they are not being paid appropriately.
In conclusion to this for the whirlpool corporation in my view workers are being motivated
the gainsharing program. But still some of the workers feel unhappy regarding to their
motivation levels.

As mentioned in the article the business is no longer a high-tech production unit its
manufacturing facilities are not well updated and renewed. Moreover its productivity is also
being less as the workers stays unproductive. As the business also introduced some of the new
techniques to make the productivity high, it did not got a good percentage as for a result.
Because of that, however the business also is afraid about being shut down.
First of all, for a first thing the business could make a plan before making a decision about
closing the manufacturing process. Therefore they could innovate training programs for the
workers in order to increase the productivity. If the training programs held upon then the workers
might get idea about making output high even with the old equipment facilities. If the results get
better the business could find another way instead of closing down the production.
However, a problem arises as the manufacturing facilities are not being updated the workers
might get bored of workplace. If that happened the productivity might stay the same as less. As
they are being paid less workers will no longer wish to work in the business.
So, for a first thing the business must invest some of its money to renew the manufacturing
facilities, even if it hard to spend its capital on it. Because of these facilities are renewed than the
workers would be pleased about it. As a result the output gets high.
It would take a lot of capital to renew the facilities but once it is being done then the life of
those equipments will be long, also instead of old fashioned way new or updated high-tech
version will be more high in quality and useful for linger life.
Moreover, if the quality is high in the products the more purchasing power would take place.
Thus it will increase the sales revenue for the business with few days. So, the size of market
would be more.

So, in my opinion the management should have a thought about both upgrading the business as
well as investing more but that is within the limit of business potential. It is because if capital of
the business is high, much better financial position will occur, if the business is financially fit to
production it would renew the techniques in business and can make new changes for its
manufacturing facilities. And also the business could sell its own old fashioned equipped
facilities which will also help in making the capital high and invest more.
In addition to it, customers would prefer updated products, for their necessities however if the
production continuous without making the production process up to dated facilities the final
product for the customers would be still old fashioned. So, if it is the situation there would be no
point in investing in the business. Therefore the workers will not prefer to work in and old
fashioned production unit.
So, as far as Im concerned the whirlpool production should invest more money or capital in
upgrading the technology of the production. Also, should establish workshops and should put
some efforts to train the workers in a different way. Moreover it must cut its cost so that it can
reduce its average total cost and increase its revenue and also it must take a wise decision about
the unproductive workers and hire skilled workers.

For a business increasing its productivity becomes the most important as well as the most
difficult and critical objective to achieve in its working life. That is why the business must
manage even the lowest important strategy to attempt the goal. Small business like Whirlpool
Corporation is forced to shut down because of its low productivity. Mostly it happens because of
the unproductive workers and the high cost on them. Moreover they benefit equally as much as
the hard working productive workers, which is really not fair both the productive workers plus
corporation.
The manage mean could take many actions against the unproductive workers in different
ways.
First of all the management could see the performance capability of the workforce instead of
taking an action immediately or hinder it.
After that to make the productive and unproductive workers equally it could separate them
into different categories and establish new policy and procedure to share the benefits
proportionally. So that workers will be paid according to their capability of making the output.
On the other hand, the management could also introduce programs governing management to
attempt to connect such elements to increase employees output. So the unproductive employees
would become productive.
Also, delegation programs could also be introduced into the business. In addition to it could
make a policy which enrich the job or which include job rotation.
Indeed, the management could appreciate and also, encourage new techniques into the
business for the welfare of hardworking employees.
By incurring these policies into the business will make unproductive workers more productive
and to receive the pay which is fair to both productive and unproductive workers.

When a business continues its working life, it tries to increase its profitability and
productivity, for in order to maintain its profit it must hire productive employees to achieve that
target. The business has to make the employees agile. Therefore employees consider many things
to make their job more successful. They follow up some of the organizational factors and
personal factors which will affect their working life, we there, those factors are the best for their
or not, would be determined by the employees.
An employ motivates him-self comparing with his working environment by many of these
organizational and personal factors.
First of all, organizational factors are faced mainly within the business maybe through the
management or the colleagues at work place. On the other hand personal factors might be
described as employees own personal problems which affect his attitude in the working place.
Both the organizational and personal factors are often factors which brings lot of changes to
employees attitude and behavior in the working environment.
As for an organizational factor job security is one of the main factor that would be enhanced
by the employ, before setting up a job employees motivation related to the special job lies on the
security that the job would provide in his work which would also, really motivates the employee
in his job and will raise a hope to continue and maintain this job in the best way. This satisfaction
could be provided by the organization. So, that it affects the employees motivation production
process, moreover the bonus salary which the employee get according to their overtimes work
pay and other additional working activities is also an organizational factor which brings a lot of
impact for the employees gets bonus rewards for his work he is surely be motivated in his work.
Although programs like gains sharing and profit sharing is also an organizational activity which
affects employees motivation. (Tracy, 2014)
Apart from those factors promotions of the job also is one f main factor which motivates an
employee. As opportunities of promoting jobs are opened the employees attitude changes and
that makes an ego to achieve it. So, he gets motivated in his work and tries to increase his
average output, it also affect the business too.

Other than organizational factors personal factors also affects the employees in many ways.
If the employee is not perfectly fit for the job mentally as well as physically he might face difficulty
And might get de-motivated in his job. Because of these kind of personal factors sometimes the
Employee held back in his work too.
The physical condition of an employee also makes an impact and job. It brings lot of changes
In his work. Too much of tension and stress is also are factors that effects.
However, rather than personal, the organizational factors are much more affecting for the
Motivation.
As for an example career prosperity could be taken as the job employee is sure about the security
For the he might consider the job promotions and the advancement that would get in his job, as the
Prosperity of job gets high the more the employee gets motivated.
Moreover, the size of the business is likely to be motivated. The expansion of business or the future
Probability of the business to be expand is also a such organizational factor that changes employees
Attitude towards his job. (Bastian, 2011)
