This assignment fulfills competency 2.1.5: Advance human rights and social and
economic justice. For this assignment, it required the student taking a look at oneself, by being
putting in the position to explore your personal emotion how today institutional discrimination
are being dealt with in society today. How unaware of my knowledge I may have been a person
guilty of discriminated against others. Having said that, through this paper, it allowed personal
experiences of discrimination to be reveal and assess my feelings. It reveals there have been
times my action discriminatory toward others. Not to mention, the assignment was designed to
allow me to reflect on my different thoughts that tell what need to be addressed in my life to
practice effectively as a professional social worker. However, also, it revealed vicious presence
cycle of discrimination, how to break this cycle is by addressing this discrimination most
effectively by being able to advance social and economic justice. Practice behaviors for
competency 2.1.5 discuss advocating for human rights and social justice and engaging in the
practice that promotes social and economic justice. I will take away from this assignment to
practice this competency. Within this paper I discussed the problem of the environment and why
it is important to break a cycle of generation, thus advocating for human rights through my
discussion. Not to mention, using critical thinking to practice advance social and economic
justice when addressing discrimination within my life and well as the lives of others. Through
this reflection, I realized the critical assessing what practices might be most effect to work
towards advancing social justice through my practice.
