4. TRAAP your sources. (10 points 2 points per section)
Evaluate the Internet article you found in step 2 by answering the
following questions:
a) Time when was it written? Has it been updated?
It was published on May 19, 2016 and has not been updated.
b) Relevance does it relate to your topic or answer your question?
Yes. It walks about mobile technology related to healthcare. I was looking for the
broad topic of mobile technology and this discusses that type of technology.
c) Authority who is/are the author(s)? Are they qualified to write about
this topic? How do you know?
Mylea Charvat. She is qualified to write about this topic because she has a history in
healthcare as well as in technology. She founded Savonix, which is a mobile
program to collect information on cognitive and emotional functions. She was the
Staff Development Manager for Travelocity and an extensive background in health
(Bachelors Degree in Psychology all the way up to a PhD in clinical neuroscience).
d) Accurate is the information trustworthy? Is it supported by evidence?
Has it been tested for accuracy?
The information is accurate in that she gives an educated perspective because of
her background. She also supports her topic with specific examples from healthcare
that are relevant; not just thrown in to have evidence. As far as accuracy, her dates
are correct but not every single piece of information has a date.
e) Purpose why was it written, to inform, sell, persuade? Is there a bias
or is the material objective?
It was written to inform. There is bias because of the authors background and her
company, so she is automatically in favor of mobile healthcare applications and
regulating them.
5. Compare the Internet and Journal articles. (6 points 2 points per
section)
Compare the Internet article 1 and DB article 1 based on the following
criteria. Use a separate paragraph for each criteria.
a) Ease of access

Assignment 1: Information Literacy

Morgan Prioleau
Internet Article 1 was accessible, I was just looking too much into it. Mobile
technology can be broad and the Internet does not always lead to specific results,
especially with search engines.
DB article 1 was fairly easy to find because with databases its easier to find
keywords. I like the number of options, especially for the specific databases that
may cater to your needs a little more.
b) Timeliness
It took me a little longer to find Internet Article 1. It took a little longer to load and I
used multiple sites before I came across one that I liked.
I found DB article 1 quickly. Everything loaded easily and there were no
advertisements.
c) Authority
Internet articles can always be fishy because the writers do not necessarily have
high credentials. However, it gives people a platform to express opinions but also to
report straight facts. This article seemed legit, and the person writing it has history
and has made big strides in what she wrote about.
Scholarly Journals automatically have more authority to me, but I have learned that
those journals need evidence. A lot of times people see the evidence and assume
its correct, but that is not always the case. Scholarly journals may have been
reviewed, but they can be biased. This article seemed to be pretty good.
6. Formatting of document. (4 points 2 points per section)
c) Place the title of the assignment and your name on the left side of the header.
d) Place the page number in the center of the footer.
