EDUC 767OPERATION: NEW HIRE

Purpose of the Course

The purpose of the course is to help newly hired teachers and paraprofessionals acquire the skills
needed so as to make navigating the schools software programs for attendance, behavior and
grades easier for them. As a result, some of their frustrations of learning the procedures of a new
job will be alleviated thereby creating happier employees that will be employees with longevity.

Audience Description

The audience will be males and females from ages 24 and up with some college credits all of the
way to Master Degrees.

Major Course Objectives


(Terminal)

1. Successfully access student information in the attendance system.


2. Change a behavior status or make a color change.

Course Enabling Objectives Successfully access student information in the attendance system.

Log into the computer system.

Navigate to the appropriate area; attendance, gradebook, behavior.


Locate the desired student.
Access the proper information.
Make the desired changes.

RLO Enabling Objective

Change a behavior status or make a color change.


Locate the student on the class list and locate their behavior menu
Access the menu and choose the appropriate color.
When the behavior menu comes up choose the prewritten statement that best describes
the infraction and fill in the required information.
Click on OK to save and exit.
Navigate to the appropriate area; attendance.

Learning Assessment for


Course

There will be quizzes along the way, but to keep anxiety at a minimum there will be no grading
of assignments. A certificate of completion is an option.

Learners will be asked to sequence the steps of accessing the desired information in
the program.

Instructional Delivery
method for Course (overall)

The instruction will take place in front of an instructor; learners will also have access to laptops
during the class.

Instructional Strategy for


RLO

A tutorial will be used for instructional purposes.

Media

A bit confused? A power point type of presentation that has some animation,
and allows the learner to move at their own pace.

508 Accommodations

Accommodations that will benefit all learners may include, but not be limited
to: narration with the script appearing on the screen. Large, bold type face.
The ability for the learner to control the pace of the course and have the
opportunity to go backwards if needed.

Course Structure
Description

There will be 4 modules, attendance, gradebook, behavior, and editing previously


entered information. Each module will have 1 to 3 lessons.

Seat Time of Course

The course will be on Mondays once or twice a month during the staff meeting time, which is 1
hour long. So the course will be a total of 10-20 hours.

RLO Outline

Navigating to the appropriate area (attendance).


1.

Sign in to the system with your username and password.

Navigate to the home screen.

Choose what area you need to access.(attendance)

Click on the attendance tab

Locate the open file folder icon in the upper left hand corner and click on it. A list of classes will
appear.

Choose the class that you need to take attendance for.

Highlight it by clicking on it.

Click the OK button on the bottom of the screen.

The class roster will appear.

Locate the attendance column.

Click on the heading

Choose the status, present, absent, tardy.

Click on the preferred status, usually it is present. (all students on the roster will have the
status of present).

Scroll down the roster of students.

Save the attendance

If needed, use the drop down menu to change the status of the students
attendance to absent or tardy.

Click on the save icon (next to the folder) to save the attendance.

Exit to the home screen.
