Assignment 4, Part 2
1. Three of the resources I found on the CSN Education website are Fast Track, Advising,
and PRAXIS and Placement testing.
a. At the Fast Track site, one can gain information about taking shorter classes (4-,
6- and 8-week courses are available) in order to take more courses in a shorter
amount of time. Doing this would allow a student to complete their education in a
shorter about of time.
b. Advising is very important for students of any level. This site connects students
with faculty associated with the education program at CSN. These teachers and
professors provide a valuable resource, as they have many years of experience in
the education career and can provide advice and guidance to students.
c. The PRAXIS and Placement Testing site provides students with information about
taking the Match and English placement tests. From here a student can locate
phone numbers to call in order to make an appointment at any given location, and
read about the requirements necessary to take the tests and transfer to a 4-year
college.
2. An artifact that is required for my portfolio is the Individual Cultures Project for EDU
280. To score well, I must demonstrate: a comprehension of cultural belonging, an
understanding of my life experiences in relation to culture and diversity, an effective use
of verbal skills, and an effective use of media communication techniques.
3. The requirements for the field observations are as follows:
a. The student is to complete 10 hours of field observation
b. The student must take the proper channels through CSN to be places in a school,
and must not contact a school directly.
c. Once the student is officially placed through CSN, they will need to contact the
teacher they will be working with to plan a schedule.
4. The Common Core Standards are used in schools across the United States to ensure a
consistent method of teaching including teaching materials, curriculum, and digital
media, so that any given classroom in the country will be at the same level as any other.
