The Makran Coastal Highways follows


the coast of Sindh & Balochistan linking
Karachi and Gawadar. Journey time has
been reduced to six or seven hours due
to the construction of new Coastal
Highway.

Air Transport

In 1955 PIA was established with the merger of orient


airways, PIAs fleet consisted of 47 aircraft of different
types.
On 1st February 1955, the Airline flew its first International
service between Karachi and London via CAIRO
Pakistan has 148 Airport.
There are 91 airport with paved runway of which 14
runways longer than 3,047 meters.
The remaining 48 airport have unpaved runways
including one runway longer than 3,047 meters.

PIA Flight 688 (2006)

PIA Flight 688 was a Fokker F27 that took off from
Multan International Airport on July 10, 2006 and
was scheduled to land in Lahore and then later in
Islamabad. But it never reached its destination
and crashed into a wheat field after burning into
flames just ten minutes after takeoff.

PIA Flight 268 (1992)

PIA FLIGHT 268 WAS AN AIRBUS A300B4-203 THAT


CRASHED ON APPROACH TO KATHMANDUS TRIBHUVAN
INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ON SEPTEMBER 28, 1992. THERE
WERE 155 PASSENGERS AND 12 CREWMEMBERS ALL OF
WHOM DIED IN THE ACCIDENT.

Water Ways in Pakistan

The water ways in Pakistan is in its Infancy with


Karachi being the only major city situated next to the
Arabian sea.
At national Flag carrier of Pakistan, trading under the
name of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation
(PNSC) is engaged in transportation of dry bulk and
liquid cargoes globally.
PNSC function are under the overall control of Ministry
of Ports and Shipping, Government of Pakistan.
Almost 99% of the total import of crude oil are
undertaken by PNSC.
The consolidated revenue of the PNSC group for
the period ended up to march 2013 Rs 8211 million

The performance of port Qasim Authority

3.Gawadar Port

Gawadar port was inaugurated on the


20th march 2007 and started
commercial operations from march
2008. Government has decided to
import all bulk cargo comprising of
urea, wheat and coal through
gawadar port. The total cargo handled
at the port up till now is 5.0million
tonnes.

Postal Service in Pakistan


The Post office is a Federal Government entity
which provides postal facilities through a network
of 12828 (2178 urban and 10650 rural) post offices
across the country.

At time of independence, there were 3036 post


offices in the country.
It also provides the facility of letter mail, parcel
post life insurance, payment of military pensions,
collection of motor vehicle tax, renewal of
weapons and driving licenses etc.

Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) has played a vital

The Ministry of Science and Technology has approved different


projects which will be implemented in the next few years.

Government has accorded a very high priority to this sector. IT


is one of the key determinants of competitiveness and growth
of economy
For promotion of IT, above than 400 cities have been provided
internet facility. Pakistan has established Software Technology
Park at Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar.
Currently, in 2006-07 Pakistan has earned 50 million dollars from
software industry. Now 3G and 4G internet facility is also provided to
