Inherently Good or Evil?

People create charity cases, soup kitchens, and people who just do random acts of
helpfulness. There is goodness all over the world, you just have to open your eyes to it, but with
every good there is an evil. A topic of debate whether people are inherently good or evil has
been highly argued for quite some time. I believe humans are inherently good, theres good in
everyone. Theres many people who love and care for one another, people who sacrifice for
their loved ones, and knowing the good from bad.
One reason why people are inherently good is people who love and care for one
another. In Langsten Hughes novel Thank you maam, The text states, Now here, take this
ten dollars and buy yourself some blue suede shoe. And the next time, do not make the mistake
of latching onto my pocketbook nor nobody elses I wish you would behave yourself, son,
from here on in. In this example, the readers learn that even after a young boy tries to steal
Mrs. Jones pocketbook for money to buy blue suede shoes, she still decides to give him him
the money and let him go without any punishment. This shows the reader that even after nearly
having their belongings taken away from them, they still find a way to forgive, forget, and care
about that persons well being. In addition, another author from the novel Gift of the Magi by O.
Henry, states in the text it states, lets put our gifts away and keep them a while. Theyre too
nice to us now, I sold my watch to get the money to buy the combs. This allows the the reader
to understand that one cares so much about the other that he would give up his most value
possession to buy his wife a christmas gift. This matters by showing how much he cares about
her and love his loved ones.

Another reason why I believe people are are inherently good is because people sacrifice
for one another. The literary work Lord of the flies by William Golding. In the text it states, The
beast was harmless and horrible; and the news must reach the others as soon as possible.
Simon started down the mountains and his legs gave beneath him. Even with great care, the
best he could do, was a stagger. by looking at this text, readers can assume that Simon
sacrificed his health just to let the others boys that the beast was harmless. His legs barely
have the strength to walk but he forces himself to walk back to his crew to give them the info
about how they dont have to worry about a beast. This shows the sacrifice one will do for
someone or a group. To build on this in Gift of the Magi, the text states, I had cut my hair off
and sold it. I couldnt love through christmas without giving you a gift I sold the watch to get
the money to buy the combs. This allows this reader to understand that these couples
sacrificed their belongings to buy their significant other a gift. This matters by showing how
much one would go through to give their loved ones a gift, they would even go to the extent of
selling their most valued possession. Based on the evidence, readers may understand how
much someone would go through for someone they dearly care about, voluntarily sacrificing
things and even themselves for their significant other.
Additionally, most people know what right from wrong, even when they are little kids. In a
video to see if babies are inherently good or evil. The Baby Lab tested that babies always chose
the stuffed animals that did the right thing/good deeds. This shows how even a less experienced
baby still knows and chooses the right over the bad. It is important to note this because it shows
how even a minor and newborn babies understands from right to wrong. many times I have
seen people choose the right path rather than the bad path. One day my friend and I went to a
party, hours into the party a guy plans to drink and other things, but me and my group of friends
knew doing that would be nothing but trouble, so we left the party. This is important to note,
because it proves how people know the right from wrong, from good to evil.

Although some might argue by saying people are just born evil because even kids can
commit crimes but, kids are influenced depending on the environment they live in. Despite the
opposition, I and many others believe that people are innocently good. the point remains,
according to all the people who do good deeds everywhere they go, such as, loving and caring
for others, sacrificing, and having the correct morale to know the right from wrong. It is essential
to people to recognize, evil is out there, that is inevitable, but because there is evil doesnt
mean they were born to be, and they should understand people were never born to bring evil to
this world.

Comments:
You chose relevant examples from the text to support your thesis.
Continue to work on your matters sentence and explaining to the reader why it is important: the
so what of your argument. You are on the right track, but now work on pushing even deeper and
connecting your evidence to the topic sentence.
Make sure to proofread for capitalization errors and the flow of your sentences.
