PHILEC Brand Distribution Transformers

Our PHILEC brand transformers have been the renowned market leader in the Philippine
distribution transformers market. The PHILEC brand has been the brand of choice of some of the
leading power generating and distribution utilities nationwide.
Our pole-mounted, oil-filled transformers are specifically designed to service the power
requirements of residential, commercial light industrial loads as well as some diversified power
specifications. These transformers were designed to conform to the usual service conditions
described in ANSI C57.12.00, General Requirements for Liquid-Immersed Distribution, Power and
Regulating Transformers.
PHILEC also produces Amorphous core Distribution Transformers (AMDT) which have been proven
to provide big cost savings in the long run due to its low No-Load Losses (NLL).

External Features
HIGH VOLTAGE BUSHINGS

BOLTED COVER CLAMPS

Both the cover-mounted and tank-wall mounted high voltage

bushings are made of wet process porcelain suitable for both
copper and aluminum conductors. It serves as the conduit
between the high voltage line and the transformer tank.

High quality elastic oil-resistant gaskets are used to ensure

that an even pressure around the rim provides an effective
seal from the environment to help prolong the life of the
transformers.
TANK GROUNDING PROVISIONS

LOW VOLTAGE GROUNDING PROVISIONS

Provided to electrically ground the tank and cover to help

prevent damage to the transformer during electrical surges.

Provides for grounding the low voltage neutral and has a

tapped hole with 0.50 diameter 13 NC thread.

EXTERNALLY OPERATED NO-LOAD TAP CHANGER

LOW VOLTAGE BUSHINGS

Allows rapid and convenient changing of high voltage tap

connection at no-load without contaminating the internal parts
of the transformer. Philec transformers provides users a choice
of up to five (5) primary voltage settings

Furnished with a single or double eyebolt or spade terminal

depending on the ratings of the unit. These are usually made
of the same materials as the high voltage bushings.
COVER AND WELDED TANK
Encloses the unit and is manufactured from hot-rolled steel
sheets and pressure tested to ensure a leak free enclosure.
Tanks and covers are grit blasted or chemically treated to
remove every trace of scale, rust or oil, thus preparing the
surface for better paint adhesion. The outer and inner
surfaces are primed with epoxy primer for rust prevention and
then the outer surface is coated with polyurethane
PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
Serves as a gateway for gradually venting off excess
pressure and designed to operate under environmental
conditions encountered during outdoor applications.

Standard Tests

LIFTING LUGS
These are made of hot-rolled steel welded to the tank
designed to help support the weight of the transformer
during transport.
NAMEPLATE
Placed in a readily accessible and visible location, these
helps provide easier identification during servicing,
monitoring and maintenance.
SUPPORT LUGS
The lugs are made of hot-rolled steel which are welded to the
tank and holds the transformer firmly in place during
operation.
RADIATORS
These are added in higher KVA units as an additional cooling
surface and are made of the same materials as that of the
tank.

Internal Features
CORE CLAMP

EFFECTIVE SEALING GASKETS

Aside from holding the core and windings in place, the core
clamp also provides extra strength to withstand mechanical
stresses during operation.

The use of oil resistant materials ensure that the interior of

our transformers are well-protected from the elements which
prevents early or premature deterioration.

DIELECTRIC FLUID

CLAMP ANGLES

Philec uses either petroleum based fluid which was refined for
use in electrical purposes, inhibited oil which contains ditertiary butyl/paracresol or the environmentally-friendly soyabased FR3 when specified.

Ensures that the core coil assembly is effectively attached to

the tank.
COIL SUPPORT
Philec uses compatible wood materials to hold the coil in
place and restrain it during short-circuit conditions.
