To Whom It May Concern:

Re: TempTale Testing, Validation and NIST Traceability
To provide background the TempTale monitor is designed for exposure to a variety of environmental
conditions, including those that are common within the storage and distribution conditions that can
sometimes be harmful to perishables. The focus of the TempTale monitor design was to provide a
cost-effective, accurate and simple to use electronic monitoring solution, using design and quality
standards that exceed customer requirements.
The TempTale monitors have been designed with a focus on four specific areas: industrial grade
components, high precision temperature sensors, lithium battery power and the use of conformal
coating. The use of industrial grade components ensures that all our TempTale units can safely
operate between the stated operating specifications. Digital temperature sensors or calibrated
precision thermistors are used to achieve an overall accuracy. A lithium battery is used to power the
monitor due to its stable voltage discharge over time. Finally, the critical component areas of the
circuit board utilize a conformal coating to protect against moisture.
To compensate for any electrical resistance that could affect temperature accuracy, the TempTale
monitor design uses an auto-calibrating circuit. This allows each monitor to compensate for the
natural tendency of electronic resistance degradation within the circuit over the life of the product (i.e.
drift). Taking into account the natural ability to determine highly accurate circuit resistance, it has
been proven that a properly assembled TempTale monitor will maintain the inherent design full-scale
accuracy for the one (1) year warranty period.
An in-circuit test is performed once assembly of the printed circuit board and its components are
completed. This in-circuit test validates that the correct components and values are present on the
circuit board, and that there are no current leaks that may cause a battery to drain prematurely.
100% of the TempTale monitors will undergo a functional test and accuracy validation. This test
exposes actively recording monitors to predetermined temperature set points. The monitors are
placed in an environmental chamber and exposed to the temperature set points as outlined below:

The chamber is allowed to stabilize at each set point and it remains at that temperature for the
specified time. The monitors record data throughout the cycle. Also recording data during the
temperature cycle is a 3rd party certified NIST traceable precision RTD temperature probe and data
logger. This NIST traceable probe is certified to be 10x greater in accuracy than the monitors being
validated. The data recorded by the monitor is compared to the data recorded by the data logger to
determine the compliance of the monitor. These tests are performed to validate that the monitor's
circuitry performs as designed.
Proprietary testing software is used to validate that the monitor operated properly throughout the
functional test and environmental validation. The software test includes a verification of memory read
and write, microprocessor functionality, temperature measurement, and time clock functionality. Each
monitor is shipped with a Certificate of Validation.
Additionally Sensitech Inc. warrants the validation period for TempTale electronic temperature and
humidity monitors against defects in materials or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the
date of sale by the original purchaser. This limited warranty applies only to the original purchaser.
