Expectations/Grading
WELCOME TO STUDIO IN ART!

Art class is an important part of your high school experience. The Art room is place to learn, to
explore new concepts & materials while collaborating with others. It is also a course and where hard
work and attentiveness is key to your success, expectations are high As arent gifted they are
earned! Even students who feel they may not be artists can excel in this class provided the following
expectations are met:

Model respectful, cooperative behavior of each other and the studio space at all times
Have excellent attendance, working bell to bell
Hand in all assignments on time and in the proper manner
Participate positively in critiques and class discussions
Promptly listens to instructions and seeks guidance to improve work
Take advantage of extra credit opportunities

Your overall grade in this class will be determined by your effort and your growth in ability.
Marking period grades will be determined as follows
Project: 60%
Completed projects and reflection sheets will be used to determine your success at meeting the criteria of a
lesson. You will be expected to complete a reflection sheet at the end of each class project to be turned in with
your work. Reflection sheets are worth 10pts of your project grade.
Ample class time will be given to complete projects, if you feel you are falling behind it is your responsibility to
attend extra help before the project is due. Late projects will lose 10pts, some projects cannot be made up.
Homework, Studies & Experiments 20%
In class studies and art experiments will be conducted as ways for students to become familiar with new
concepts and techniques
Photography homework will be assigned to help assess your understanding of the elements and principles.
This may be used as a means to draw inspiration for drawing, as well as showcasing your personal interests.
Photographic works may be submitted/uploaded via Google classroom/drive, websites or using flash drive.
Photographs are allowed to be taken via camera phones.
Each homework assignment will be graded. Late homework may lose significant credit per each day late.
Studio Environment & Participation: 20%
Your participation grade will be an assessment of your overall class participation, preparedness, and attitude.
All students are expected to assist in keeping the studio environment in working order by participating in set up
and clean-up of materials.
