Bullying has been a constant issue in classrooms and schools and is still an issue. With the
advances and popularity technology has a new form of bullying, cyberbullying, has become a
widespread issue for kids. By understanding the different forms of bullying and the signs of both
the bully and the victim teachers can take preventative measures and learn how to respond
effectively to situations. Bullying is still a relevant topic and issue that needs to be recognized
and understood in order for it to be stopped. With children being in school for a good portion of
the day it is important to teach students respect and acceptance for one another. Teachers play
an important role in preventing bullying in the classroom as we are there for our students, and in
order to be an effective teacher we must not turn a blind eye to bullying and play an active role
in our students lives and prevent or respond to bullying situations appropriately. Bullying
situations can represent a number of implications however and it is a hard situation to be in for
not only students but also as a teacher. However, the first step in taking action is to understand
those implications and learn to respond with the help of being properly informed about bullying
and working together to collaborate with our colleagues.
