DERVIS ZAIM:
 Derviş Zaim was born 1964 in Northern
Cyprus.
 He is both novelist and filmmaker.
 In 1995, his first novel won the prestigious
"Yunus Nadi" literary prize in Turkey.
 Dervis Zaim graduated from the Bogazici
University Department of Management .
 He earned a master ’ s degree in film and
cultural studies at the University of
Warwick in the UK .
 He currently teaches at Bilgi and Bogazici
Universities .

miniaturist (Nakkash), named Eflatun
Efendi.
 He is a Croatian recruit (devşirme).
 He is master miniaturist in Istanbul.
 He lost his wife and child.
 After their deaths, he abondoned his art
as miniaturist.
 To remember his wife and his son, he
depicted their pictures in western
style of painting although it was not
approved by Ottoman authorities.
