PRECAUTIONS
The KM-3650W has two Power Saving Modes. The Modes are Warm Sleep, the other is
Power Save. In Warm Sleep Mode, the machine will return to ready as soon as any key is
pressed on the Operation Panel, or a print job is received. In Power Save Mode, the Controller
will shut down completely. This will cause a blank display. The backlight on the display will
remain ON.
A user may not understand that the machine is in Power Save Mode because there is no
display. If you press a button on the Operation Panel the machine will reboot the Controller.
The display will show the Controller BIOS information and then go back to a blank screen for
one or two minutes while the system restarts.
The BIOS display and return to a blank screen may confuse a user and cause them to
turn the machine off during the boot process. This can cause the Controller Hard Drive
to become corrupted. The Controller may not be able to restart after this. It can be only
be repaired by replacing or re-imaging the Hard Drive. Hard Drives can be ordered from
the Parts Center.
We suggest that if your customer complains about a blank display, you disable the Power Save
Mode. To do this, press the Menu Key, next press the key next to Service Mode. On the
Password Screen enter 10871087 and press Enter. You will now see the Warm Sleep and
Power Save mode settings on the right side of the screen. Change the Power Save setting
from Enable to Disable. You can leave the Warm Sleep Mode enabled. In that mode the user
will see a message on the display and the machine will wake up immediately when accessed.
We are investigating a change to eliminate the blank display and provide better end user
information.
