land,atleastinJohto,anditwasonlybytheoffchanceyou'dencounterthem

anappearanceinthegameitselfexceptinCrystalwhereaneventwasunlocked
(yes,itwasanevent),makingitthesecondofthe"secret"legendaries.
ThenextgenerationgameandgracedtheGameboyAdvance,andRSlargelykept
thewaysofGSC,havingyoursittingducklegendaries(Kyogre,Groudonand
Rayquaza)andyourrunners(Latios,Latias)butalsointroducedanewtrend
fromCelebi;certainPokemon(inthiscase,theoppositeLati@s)thatwere
actuallyfoundinareasbutcouldonlybegottentoviaanevent.RSwerealso
thefirstgamestohavelegendariesasversionexclusives.
FRLGEalsousedthe"event"legendaries,addingNavelRock,BirthIslandandon
Emerald,FarawayIslandtothemix.
AlthoughHooh&LugiawereobtainableviaColosseumandXD,FarawayIslandwas
thefirsttimeMewcouldEVERbefoundlegitamately,withtheexceptionof
eventsforRBY&GSC.BirthIslandalsoallowedDeoxystobecaught,andsofar
istheonlywaytoactuallygetit.Jirachiwasalsoa"secret"legendarywho
formedatriowithMewandCelebi,thoughJirachiwasavailableinabonusdisk
forColosseumintheUSandinPokemonChannelinEurope.
However,itisworthnotingthatnothingwasevergivenoutinaUSeventthat
unlockedtheFarawayIsland,asfarasIknow.Plus,FarawayIslandalsohad
asecondnewelementplayinghideandseekwithMew.
ThenwithitsreleaseonSeptember28inJapan,Diamond&Pearlcametobeing,
andthistimetherearetwothatrunaround,threethatneedevents,twothat
areversionexclusivestotheirrespectiveversions,andevenonethatrequires
helpfromapreviousgame.Nottomentiontwothatrequireaspinoffgameand
abitofbreedingtogetthem.
Platinumissoontocomeandhasintroducedmorealternateformsforlegends,
somethingthatoriginallyonlyDeoxyshad.Ithasbeenrevealedthatyoucan
catchthethreeRegiwiththehelpofamovieRegigigas(atleastintheJPN
versionofPlatinum)andtheremaybemorethingswedon'tknow.Therecould

Themainthingthatmakeslegendarieshardtocaptureistheirextremelylow
catchrate.ApartfromShaymin,DialgaandPalkia,everylegendarysofarhas
hadacapturerateof3,whichmeanstheybarelyeverstayintheball.The
MasterBallcanobviouslystillcatchthesewitha100%capturerate,butof
course,youonlyhaveone.I'dhighlyrecommendusingaMasterBallonarunner
likeMespritorCresseliashouldyoufindthatyoucannotgetanotherone.I
wouldprobablyrecommendCresselia.Allotherlegendariesshouldbecaught
insomethingthatisnotaMasterBallastheydonotrunaway.However,if
youarecapableofgettingmorethanoneMasterBall,thenbemyguestonwho
touseit.
OtherPokeballsthatcanbeeffectiveareTimerBallsaslegendarybattlescan
dragoutalotsometimes,DuskBallsasthemajorityoflegendarybattlestend

cametolightinEmeralditonlyworkedforcommonWildPokemoninthegrass,
wateretcandnotonanyspecialeventWildPokemon.HoweverinD/P,the
abilitywillaffectthechanceofthelegendhavingthesamenatureasthe
Synchronizerwhichcanbeextremelyhelpfulingettingarequirednaturefora
Pokemon.
Lastly,somelegendariesareobtainedthroughthingscalledWonderCards.You
arecapableofresettingfortheselegendariesaslongasyoulikeuntilyou
