‘The Board of Directors of the Chinese Australian Services Society Cooperative Ltd (CASS),
‘AHI, an Underwriting Agent on behalf of Allianz Australia Insurance Limited, the long-
standing insurer of CASS, and Mr. Henry Pan, have mutually resolved the matter conceming
Mr. Pan's claim of insurance due to the incident on 8 January 2006 which resulted in the loss
of Mr. Pan’s vision in both of his eyes.
In respect to the claim, AHI agrees that at the time when the incident occurred, CASS held a
valid insurance Policy which provided, among other things, certain cover as a result of
“Accidental Losses" (as that term is defined in the Policy) to an “Insured Person’.
AHI has undertaken an extensive investigation into the nature and circumstances of this
particular loss. During the investigation AHI has noted that significant public and private
‘comment has been generated as a result of the claim. AHI has dismissed all of this
‘comment to the category of “hearsay’.
In resolving the matter, AHI accepted that, at all material times, Mr. Pan was considered an
“Insured Person” for the purpose of the term as defined in the Policy, and as such it was
‘enough for a'claim to be lodged against insurance Policy held by CASS.
‘The CASS Board of Directors and Mr. Pan acknowledge the efforts of AHI in resolving the
matter amicably.
