Nature Journal
o Acquire a notebook that you will use specifically for nature journal
entries. The style is up to you. You can even use the rest of a
notebook that you might have started but never used up. Reduce,
Reuse! ;-) You will be using this notebook throughout the year.
o At least four times, find a spot outdoors. Sit, listen and observe. No
talking or electronic use. Just take in the world around you. After at
least 5 minutes, write down your observations. Try to be as descriptive
as possible about what you observed and how you felt. Feel free to
add drawings to your journal!
Environmental Issues
o Pick 2 articles that are related to a current environmental issue or
event.
o Make sure they are from a reputable source. You may want to start
with Google News for some ideas. The New York Times usually has
some good articles; as does The Washington Post and National
Geographic.

o Summarize the article, give your thoughts, and compare/relate the

topics of the articles to what you have read about in Chapters 1 and or
2.
o Site the source of your information in APA format.
All work is due on the first day of class, September 6th. Answers to
all questions, and your article analyses must be typed. You may
bring in a hard copy, or you may email work to me:
sarahwatt@bpsma.org. There will be a test on Chapters 1 and 2 on
Friday, September 9th.
