It has come to the Distriet’s attention that comments were written by Kelly Owens, guidance counselor ‘at Oakwood High School, who knew Brock Turner when he was a student, Kelly has submitted an apology to the District, that states: “Inthe statement | submitted to the Judge during the criminal proceedings and before sentencing referencing Brock’s character, | made a mistake. Of course he should be held accountable. | pray forthe vietim, her family and all those affected by this horrible event. | am truly sorry forthe adaitional pain my statement has caused. | tell my students they have to be accountable, and Brock is no exceptio ‘The District appreciates Kelly Owens’ expression of regret and remorse over her statement that Brock was undeserving of the outcome. The District did not know the statement had been submitted, and the view she stated does not reflect the view of the: District or the Oakwood Board of Education.
