Overview

In this lesson the student will learn simple facts about the Paleolithic Era to
the Agricultural Revolution by watching a short Youtube video and
completing a variety of worksheets.

Standards of
Learning

Because this is a special education classroom the students do not participate


in SOLs. However, they still have objectives that need to be met. These
objectives are provided by my cooperating teacher, Mr. Anderson.

Objectives

Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of early humankind from


the Paleolithic Era to the Agricultural Revolution.

The Paleolithic Era to the Agricultural Revolution PowerPoint:
Teacher will present information from the PowerPoint in a way that is
simple enough for students to understand.
Paleolithic Era and Neolithic Era Comparison Chart Activity: Students
will first cut out the fact squares given to them. Next, students will
organize them into two piles based on which Era it belongs under.
Once teacher has checked for correct answers students will have
permission to glue down their squares onto their T-Chart.
Final Review: Students will write five facts about the Paleolithic Era
and/or the Neolithic Era to ensure student has comprehended the
material and also the difference between the two Eras.
Closure Activity: Students will design their own piece of pottery using
colored pencils that are provided for them.

Accommodations

Because this is a special education class many accommodations were made


for the entire class. Including the time frame in which the students had to
complete each task and also the speed at which the lesson and activities were
presented and/or taught. However, no individual accommodation was made
for any student.

Closure Activity

Student will design their own piece of pottery with colored pencils.

Assessments

No official assessment has been given for this unit yet. However, I included a
final review activity over the presented information by having each student
write five facts about the Paleolithic Era and/or the Neolithic Era.
