First Annual Westchester #BeBetter Day

JCCA, Local Businesses Give Back, Help Children with PTSD

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. (October 8, 2015) . #BeBetter Day is coming to Pleasantville,

Saturday, November 7, 2015, to raise awareness about the long-lasting and life-altering
effects that childhood traumas and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can have on an
individual. This family-friendly event is sponsored by the Jewish Child Care Association
(JCCA) of Pleasantville and will be held in Memorial Plaza from 10 AM until 4 PM. The
event will include several raffles, a silent auction, community service sign-ups, face
painting, games, safety seminars, and informational sessions on how to get involved to help
alter a childs life for the better.

The JCCA of Pleasantville is the premier childhood rehabilitation center in Westchester
County and has served the community for over 100 years. They hope to create a
nonjudgmental and safe environment for adults and children to talk about the dangers of
living through traumatic experiences in adolescence. Former JCCA resident Tasha
Hernandez says, With the help from the JCCA, I learned to cope with my feelings and
express them in a positive manner; I learned to trust and I gained trust.

Fiscal donations can be made either online at www.jccany.org or by calling 914-741-4565.
Gift donations for the raffles and silent auction are being accepted in a range of forms and
denominations. Tickets will be free for children 12 years of age and under, and $6 for
individuals 13 years and older. More information about #BeBetter Day and the JCCA can be
found on their website, www.jccany.org.
