Profile
Donald J. Trump is Americas successful businessman that turned politician.
Whether you love him or hate him he is running as the republican nominee for the 2016
presidential election. He has already won over the most states to fill the Republican spot
on each voter's ballot. How does a man with such radical thoughts and such little
evidence to backup his claims so persuasive? There is a large portion of American
citizens that go crazy for him and feel that he is trustworthy enough for them to cast their
ballots in his favor. Donald Trump has taught himself over the years to speak to people
to get a reaction.
As he approaches his lectern before a speech he appears to be relaxed while he
waves and smiles just like a true politician. The bright lights flash onto the stage and the
crowd becomes intense with energy and emotion due to the whole atmosphere. You see
him standing behind his podium that reads TRUMP and underneath that you see his
campaign slogan Make America Great Again. Sometimes he points to people in the
crowd to make a more intimate connection with his voters the same way a musician
connects with their crowd. As he gets closer to the microphone, you notice his orange
hair, combed over to one side and his skin oddly matches his hair. Always dressed in a
suit and usually a red or blue tie, he always seems to play his part. He starts off with a
calm voice and warm hellos as his speech commenced.
Trump is a man who believes what he says is correct and will not take anything
from anyone. In 2011, he claimed that our current President, Barack Obama, was infact
not born in the United States, and set the country at a frenzy to find his birth certificate.
He caused a political uproar. People began to dislike Obama and began to believe that

he was a dishonest man as a result. They did not want him to be the leader of our
country any longer. Mr. Trumps goal was to make people think and question the
authority of the leaders of this country, although it may have not been the most ethical
approach to doing so.
Recently, in past rallies and conventions Trump has hosted, you hear a variety of
different inappropriate remarks being made. A specific example of this would be when he
was announcing that Megyn Kelly may have been on her period during one debate. Also,
misogynistic things such as A person who is very flat-chested is very hard to be a ten.
Those who see the problem with these remarks are left asking the question to
themselves, Why do people still endorse and support Donald J. Trump?. The answer
that people give is that he is says what is on his mind. This characteristic is appealing to
a lot of voters because it is refreshing to see someone running for president who cares
less about political correctness. Not only is he honest, but he tells people what they
want to hear and gets them riled up. For example, his Immigration reform has three core
principles. The first being stated as, A nation without walls is not a nation. There must
be a wall across the southern border. His foolproof plan is for Mexico to fund the
construction of the wall. That is exactly what some people want to hear so he is giving
them the lip service that most politicians give in order to win votes. They believe that
Mexican immigrants are taking jobs away from the American people and he also makes
the claim that, Theyre bringing drugs. Theyre bringing crime. Theyre rapists. And
some, I assume, are good people.. His campaign slogan Make America Great Again is
exactly what people want to hear after a steady decline in the economy and morals of
our country. They believe America is tarnished and failing and other countries will take
over. This statement alone makes people want to stand behind him, and follow his lead,
and whether he can make this country great again or not cannot be foretold merely
based on a simple slogan. His radicalism allows people to always feel engaged in his

speeches because truthfully, you never know what the man is going to say. It gives
people a laugh factor and they believe he is truly genuine in this thoughts and spoken
words. For example, at one rally, the lighting crew turned lights on and they were bright,
but instead of asking politely and calmly, Trump started to yell Turn them off! Turn the
lights off! And began a chant saying turn them off. Why did he do this? It gave people
an opportunity to be emotionally invested in what he was saying and it was extremely
unprofessional, but necessary because of the fact that his audience expects these types
of things to happen.
Donald Trump is an infamously known for speaking what is on his mind without
much thought. On the tonight show with Jimmy Fallon, Fallon said Whats refreshing
about you is youre off the cuffyou go out with no notes. This is what is different about
Trump. Usually, candidates have a strategy for their plans to sound the utmost
professional and responsible they can be, so they prewrite speeches to have a
guideline. Donald Trump, however, is one candidate who does precisely the opposite.
He is an extemporaneous speaker. It seems as though he does not prepare for his
speeches, but knows exactly what to say in front of a certain crowd to whom in which he
is speaking. Trump said himself that he could read a speech in front of a crowd, but he
will not get the same reaction as he would if he went with the flow. He said it's a thing of
beauty when he gets it right, because it is hard to not read from a teleprompter or a
piece of paper, but more times than not, he gets the reaction he wants. In a Forbes
article online, the details of a Stanford business school study stated that people form
opinions in as little as thirty seconds or less and the leaders who were perceived to have
the most expertise were the ones who made the most eye contact. The others who
made little to no eye contact seemed to be less competent and untrustworthy. These
were the people who read directly from PowerPoint slides or a paper. Donald Trump
does neither, and perceived to be a good speaker and a trustworthy person as a result.

In Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Trump spoke about his family and how his daughter gave him
a beautiful grandson. This made the people in the crowd very comfortable knowing he
would talk about his personal life. He then went on about why he does what he does. He
has a multibillion dollar empire, a beautiful family, and many other things going for him.
He said that he does this for the people, to protect them. For his supporters, it is
comforting to know that a man who has his own life in business and also has a self
funded campaign is doing so to serve for the people.
Trump always knows what his audiences want to hear from him. Whether it be
building a wall or defeating ISIS, his tactic is to exploit their biggest fears and confidently
explain his solutions to them. Trump is learning to become a charismatic speaker.
People are willing to follow him because he seems to offer the answers for questions
that people have. The answers that Donald Trump gives may not be ethical to all
bystanders, but one may still follow what he says because of the fact that his reasoning
to other topics make him easier to follow. If you actually take a step back and view a
speech, he does have some great analogies and overall possesses the qualities of a
great public speaker.
