Purpose
(To establish a marking procedure for API 6D valves.) This procedures cover to the
quality requirements on marking of API6D valves.

2. Scope
This applies to all PT BMI manufactured API6D valves products both body and
nameplate.

Responsibility
a) Marking Operator

Responsible for the preparation of the Marking Equipment and tools


needed.

Prepare the surface and thoroughly clean the parts to be mark.

Ensure that the marking details are complete.

b) Production Manager

Monitor the marking activity initiated by the operator.

c) QC Inspector

Verify and check the marking activity initiated by operator.

d) QA/QC Manager

Approved the markings base on the following standard (ASME 16.34 and
API6D)

Nameplate minimum letter size is 0.125in (3mm) on valves sizes NPS 2 (DN 50) and
larger. For all valves NPS 1.5 (DN 38) and smaller is 1.5mm.

Procedure
5.1

Make sure that the marking machine and air compressor are both in good
running conditions.

5.2

Set up the marking equipment and input the marking details to the program
for both body and nameplate marks.

5.3

Securely fastened the work piece into the marking machines.

5.4

Prepared work piece shall be cleaned for good marking results.

6. Marking Inspection
6.1

(3)Each stage of marking process shall be checked frequently.

6.2

(1)Simulation of CNC program for both body and nameplate shall be done
prior to final markings.

6.3

(2)Marking dimension for body and nameplate shall be observed as per


marking standard.
