Key Characteristics of Catholicism- Assessment Task


To conclude the unit completed on Key Church Teachings. You are to create a brochure outlining Key
Characteristics and Teachings of Catholicism for someone who is interested in the Catholic Faith.
If you wish to look at another Christian Denomination (e.g. Orthodox or Anglican) please discuss with
your teacher.
You are required to find information on the following:

Important beliefs (Hint: use the Nicene Creed)


Values and laws (Hint: use the 10 Commandments)
Stories and literature (Hint: use a New Testament Story as an example)
Social structure (Hint: Who is the church leader?)
Sacred text (Hint: Give them a snapshot of the Bible)
Symbols of the religion and what they mean to believers (Think of 3-5)
Traditions and rituals with an explanation (Choose 2 e.g. Holy Mass, a sacrament)
One Traditional prayer and what the prayer means (e.g Nicene Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary)
Places of worship (Choose the local Church and Cathedral)
Individual experience (How did you learn about the Catholic Faith? What do you think about
it?)
Any other additional interesting information and/or images
You may work in pairs to develop a creative and engaging brochure or similar. You will be
expected to use a document sharing platform to ensure the work is evenly shared.
