Listening tests

General Instructions
After the students have had enough time to read
through the worksheet, play the associated recording
straight through once.
Then play each paragraph, section or exchange at
least once, giving the students time to write their
answers. Long, gapped dictations (like 3A and 3B)
may need repeated playings to help the slower
students to understand, remember and write down
so
many words. Then play the whole recording a final
time and give the class another one, two or three
minutes (depending on the length and difficulty of
the recording and the number of words the students
have to write) for the class to make final corrections.
For self-evaluation, the students may exchange papers,
hear the recording one more time and help each
other
to understand and correct their work. If, however, the
mark is required for monitoring the progress and
overall achievement of individual students, the
teacher
must, of course, mark the work, being as objective as
possible and maintaining rigorous criteria for the
assignment of a numerical grade.

Hi! My name is Steven Carter and Im twelve. Im
English. Ive got green eyes and short, curly, light
brown hair. Im tall and my mum says that Im good-looking. My favourite hobbies are watching science
fiction films and playing football with my friends. My
birthday is on 6th April.
My favourite football club is Manchester United. Im a
student at a state secondary school in Manchester. I
have got a younger sister. She is younger but more
energetic than me. She is always jumping up and
down and running about. My dad is a mechanic and
my mum is a shop assistant. We live in a flat in the
centre of town. We go everywhere by bus or on foot.
