Assignment:
You will select one of the countries from the attached list.
Once you select a country you need to research the countrys history,
politics/economy, relations with other countries, its culture, and current
events. In your introduction you need to include basic information like
location, population, capital, climate, currency, Gross Domestic Product
(GDP), and leaders.
1. History: Simply describe how the nation was founded and any
significant wars or revolutions which have taken place from then until
now.
2. Government and Economy: Is the country democratic? How do they
legislate and make laws? Do they have a president or prime minister?
Does the economy follow the principles of Capitalism, Socialism,
Communism, or something else?
3. Relations with other countries: Who do they trade with, who are
their allies, who are their enemies?
4. Culture: This includes music, food, entertainment, religion,
architecture etc.
5. Current Events: What significant events have taken place there in
the last ten years or so? I want to know how the country is developing.
What problems does it face, what solutions does it have? Consider war,
revolution, competition with other countries, terrorism etc.

1. Presentation must be 5-7 minutes. If you do a good job on your paper
this should be easy.
2. Use pictures, charts, graphs, and clips along with text. Tell us what
sources you used.

Together your paper and PowerPoint are 20% of your semester grade.
The paper is worth 45 percent.
