The Brief in Detail

MIDI MUSIC (Unit 37 The Functional Music Keyboard)
The vocational context: you have been asked by MIDI.org to produce a booklet, PDF or website that promotes the use of MIDI to the
everyday musician, with examples of how the music keyboard can be used to compose and create multi-layered pieces for a variety of
contexts.
TASKS
Task 1:
Record in real-time 3 melodies along to click track and upload them without editing (U37 GC1)
Task 2:
Design a booklet or webpage that promotes the functions of MIDI to all musicians (U37 GC2)
Task 3:
Produce two compositions using the MIDI keyboard in a variety of ways. (U37 GC3)
Evidence required:
GC1 : Bounce as mp3 and upload your 3 tracks to your private tumblr: take screen shots of the piano roll and add to your tumblr;
observation evidence of correct posture, warm ups etc will also be taken.
GC2 : Produce a booklet that can be uploaded to your tumblr. All written evidence must be your own (the use of quotes is allowed but must
be clearly attributed)
GC3: Bounce as mp3 your 2 compositions and upload to your Tumblr. The compositions can be companion pieces to your booklet, and the
latter can contain screen grabs and descriptions of both pieces.
PASS, MERIT AND DISTINCTION are attainable (see grading sheet below for criteria)
