In reality we will likely authorise purchase as outlined below. [am thinking that this PAI needs a little update. For your info I am uploading the PAL ‘Smart Boards - These require IT support to setup, purchasing can be done through us (send me an email request with an 10) or the CSTC’s can order themselves. Projectors - Require IT support to setup, but again purchasing can be done through us or directly from the CSTC Coord Video Cameras* - These do interact with our network, therefore they should be procured through Public Affairs, or through us. Pay attention to these as they may require purchasing special software, or acquiring it from us or PA. Digital Camera - same as video cameras. Keyboards/Mice - these can be simply purchased from PP&S from the lyreco Catalogue. Memory Sticks - These will be provided by the IM/IT section. All requests for them will have to go through you as the IT SPO and forwarded on to us if you think there is merit. As well, they are looking at adding a Call Manager to the location and going VOIP for the phone system. This would increase the number of lines to 20. The VOIP ‘would run over one or both of the T1's, depending on how they set it up GDNS cost for a T1 is $800 monthly, which is much lower price than what were getting, plus its paid for by NHQ. | was informed he could have a T1 there in 60-90 days. They were a litle upset that we went through DIMTPS and not LFWA. They said because we went around them that they move us to bottom of pile. | informed him that we did not raise any concems but were following DIMTPS direction on creating RFS for all commercial connections. Stil, since they are the building owners they want us to channel everything threw them, | have a feeling this is somewhat related to the storm being created by RAdm Bennett (DGC) and her recent visit to Rocky. Its possible someone else, other than us, brought it up to LFWA as it's their location and that prompted this response, Questions we face: 1. Are we under contract with TELUS? If so how long? Can it be cancelled oF rolled into the GONS contract? He was Quite curious about the contract obligations. Since i's already TELUS I am hoping they can just roll i into the GDNS plan 2. If commercial ISP is removed and we go to GPNET/DWAN, what does this do to the Otticors Mess/Cadetlab? | am quite sure the current practice of the labs/mess will violate GoC policy on their networks. | believe they both would have to be shut down. 3. Do we requite any more DWAN for the location? What about pure GPNET? 4, This would not help alleviate the issue with Cadets and communications. In fact would make the issue worse as ‘now there is only a government feed and there is no way any minors willbe permitted on a Government feed. You do not need to order the part#AT911AA@$35.00/ this was additional memory to bump the total memory on the old model up to 3 GB) since the new model already comes with 4GB installed and hence why it is $55.00 more for the new laptop. The iPads were distributed to a limited number of participants in the National Capital Region and connected wirelessly to the Internet, but for security reasons, had no wireless connectivity to the DWAN and limited integration with existing DND IT infrastructure, restricting the overall user experience. Following completion of trials with both Windows 7 and the RIM Playbook tablets and follow-up briefings to the senior DND/CF leadership, ADM(IM) intends to release a Letter Of Interest (LON) to gauge the interest and capacity of industry to supply tablet devices to meet the future iterative needs of DND, 24 Cependant, l’utilité possible des tablettes a été confirmée. ‘A0423861_4-A.2013.01672--0083 4. To prevent the creation of a fragmented approach across DND, Lis have been requested to stop all current and planned procurement of tablet devices, This request is amplified in reference B, and it should be noted that any devices procured outside of the: enterprise standard (when in place) will not be permitted to be connected to the DWAN and will not be supported by ADM(IM). 5. The Army is currently in the process of reviewing IT entitlements and will be diligent ‘in our approach to tablet devices. As the trial to incorporate tablets within the DND- . workspace proceeds, the following interim -. direction is to be put into effect: ee a. No tablet devices shall be procured without prior approval of Asst CLS; and b. Army Gé6 is the lead for coordinating trial participation with ADM(IM): 6. The Army G6 is the primary point of contact for any questions related to the ‘implementation of tablet computing devices within the Army. .ef d’Etat-major — Opérations terrestres, od. MR Dabros Brigadier-General Chief of Staff Land Operations Distribution List (next page) 4. LCA@ADM(IM) DGEAS@Winnipeg RCSU(Pra) IT Equipment Acquistion Sir, | have attached the updated IT Equipment list with the updates you provided CPO2 Rivet and | have added the requests from CSG Edmonton that were not present. AA few highlights: 1. {have Colour Coded all WPG staff DWAN asset requests Yellow as WTISS has already cofirmed we are due for upgrades in the near future for most of our assets. We can still use funds to jump the cycle if you prefer, either as shown or on a case by case basis. ($17820) 2, Ihave Colour Coded the DWAN upgrade tor Capt Krasey in red since he is currently using a 17Wing asset that is less than 2 years old. Again we can jump the queue if desired which will allow us to move him to a 742 Sqn Asset.($1620) 3, Ihave Colour coded the DWAN requests for CSG Edmonton (and Capt Lindley-Scott) in Orange as they were ‘somehow missed on the sheet. | was expecting this request as it was submitted quite a while ago, based on my recommendation. In our opinion these should be the highest priory for upgrades as 742 Sqn will not provide tree upgrades for the RCSU(Pra) staff without an SLA in piace. These machines are between 6 and 8 years old and in dire need of replacement. They have no problem staying on desktops for 5 of the members since they do not have to travel. This will reduce the cost per system by approx $600 i desired ($7300) As it stands we are at approx $61,500. | believe CPO? Rivet mentioned you were looking at a cap of $60K. We could leave everything as is and remove the laptop for Capt Krasey to come under that number, o retool a bit more to add a few ‘other items and reduce the number of 17wing asset upgrades. | know RCIS is looking to replace their aging disc duplicator, and anew one would be less than 5k. | will be out of the office until the Sth of January but | will be bringing my laptop home and will be able to submit requests once we have finalised the list. | can also be reached at (204)230-2578 and (306)596-4218 during this time. ‘A0423863_1-A.2013.01672--0093, TT Equip Lists (33 *6) Dave Wolfe Lieutenant IM/IT Operations Officer | Officier des Opérations GI/TI ADM(IM) | SMA(GD) DGEAS / DHRIM 1-7-2 | DGSAE / DGIRH 11-7-2 National Defence | Défense nationale Government of Canada | Gouvernement du Canada Winnipeg, Canada R3J 35 David Wolfe2@forces.ge.ca Telephone | Téléphone 1-800-842-1851 option 8 ext | poste 2477 CSN : 257-2477 Facsimile | Télécopieur (204) 833-2612 Government of Canada | Gouvemement du Canada ‘A0423863_2-A.2013.01672--0004 CSU(PRA) IT EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS Monitor [ Lap To, ‘Scanners | KVM switch 22in_| DWAN.
