Abortion

Abortion
Jesus, Christopher Columbus, Socrates, Martin Luther King, and Aristotle among others
have changed history, freed the oppressed, and taken long unknown journeys to expand the
minds of others. These people have written their names on history itself. The names of aborted
babies will not be written anywhere, because the process of abortion has taken their right to live.
The mother and the child both suffer from abortion. The child dies a painful death and the
mother is destined to live a life that can be incredibly difficult. Abortion is inhumane for both
mother and child, and should be illegal. Instead, the child should be given the chance at life
through adoption.
As a teenager, I became aware of problems my friends were going through in high
school; my fifteen year old girlfriend was being sexually abused by her step-father without her
mother having any knowledge this was happening. My friend became pregnant multiple times.
However, the first time was at the age fourteen, and gave birth to a baby boy which she argued
the father was a boyfriend from high school when there was no boyfriend at all. To make matters
worse, subsequent pregnancies resulted in abortions forced upon her by her own mother. After
the abortions she fell into a worse depression than the rapes themselves. My friend told me in
secret that she never wanted to abort her children at any point, and her pregnancies were
lifesavers from constantly being raped. Also, the abortions were as traumatizing, if not worse,
than the rapes. She gave birth to two children from the rapes; the last pregnancy she called, Her

most precious miracle. Senator Ted Cruz dealt with cases similar to the trauma my friend went
through at the time when he was a solicitor general in the state of Texas. He gave a speech about
overturning the abortion law at any stage, including rape and incest. He argues that rape will not
be solved by executing the baby in the mothers womb instead; the rapist should pay for the
crime. (Hodges). Like Senator Cruz, I believe the rapist should be punished, not an innocent
human being.
Pro-choice supporters ignore the fact when life begins even though is scientifically
proven. It is sad how blind they are to the thought of the unborn child is alive, a sack of cells
which clearly it is not because the babys body is starting to take shape by the seventh week. The
cells do not fly around for nine months making no connection, or no DNA purpose until the very
moment of birth. Northwestern University captured an amazing experience on film during
conception at the very moment when the human sperm cell crosses the wall of the human egg. As
a result, sparks of zinc exploded making a bright light. Scientist agree this is the explicit moment
that life has begun (Knapton). All of this is astonishing because studies have proven what many
try to argue against; an unborn baby is just a sack of cells when in fact it is already a living
human. In this era everyone constantly searches for everything to be scientifically proven, and to
have legitimate evidence in order to prevent alteration of anything.
Pro-life supporters are not the enemy, but actually are here to help those women in
different types of crises during a pregnancy by working together to protect the life of the mother
and the unborn child. People have wondered why women choose to terminate their pregnancies,
and have performed studies for this. Many have been mistreated, abused, and diminish since
childhood. Therefore, the lack of love and attention pushes them to choose wrongly. Help is
available, and closer than anyone can imagine. Rachels Vineyard is a pro-life retreat campaign

with the purpose to restore womens mental and psychological health (Burke). The retreats exists
in the United States and over 57 countries around the world. The mission is to serve those who
are going through post-abortion trauma.
Theologically, abortion is against God and all His creation. The Bible states that life has
started even before conception. As humans we have scientifically proven that life begins at
conception, and although it is very much true, we have also not taken the time to find out that
human life actually starts before conception. God has chosen everyone before conception, and
hand crafted us to perfection to his own image and liking. This is what we ignore or do not take
the time to learn about, and in some way we take it for granted (Psalm 139:13-16 and Jeremiah
1:4-5). We have missed what the Declaration of Independence states with clarity, making the
connection with the Bible, All men are created equal; God has not selected anyone to rule over
us. God has granted all men certain rights, and these rights cannot be taken away by any
government. These rights include Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." (Hall Association)
Both of those texts are being diminished and being withheld from all unborn babies. The sex talk
I gave my children emerged from a question asked, Mom, when are babies alive? And I said,
Well the human sperm is alive and the egg is alive, technically they are alive before they meet
together. Philosophically speaking they are alive before they even exist, however, when the
sperm fertilizes the ovum it becomes something different, at this point it is a baby.
Adoption is the best option a mother can choose. It provides a chance for unwanted
children to become loved and live a happy life, and the mother is able to continue her life the
way she might have wanted it. As stated before, everyone has inalienable rights that should not
be taken away from the unborn simply because they do not have a voice. There are many
benefits to putting a child up for adoption, one being that the child has a chance to his/her right

of life. Secondly, the mother will definitely not go through the post-abortion traumas; rather, she
will experience the feeling of happiness knowing the child is safe. There are two different types
of adoption, domestic adoption, and international adoption. A domestic adoption is when a U.S.born infant is put up for adoption by his/her birth parents, who legally consent to the adoption
with an adoptive family of their choosing. An international adoption is a type of adoption in
which an individual or couple becomes the legal and permanent parent of a child who is a
national of a different country. Adoptions are better than abortion in every aspect.
There are many ways to avoid pregnancies, rather than terminating them. As human
beings we all have to take responsibility for our every action, and both women and men are
responsible before, during, and after being sexually active. Sexual education begins with children
as young as fourth and fifth grade, and continues throughout high school. Although, many may
argue that an unexpected child can be a major trouble for the parents, we are all aware of the
outcome of being sexually active. Therefore, one cannot blame the unborn baby for ones own
actions, which is what is happening when women abort. Having intimacy can result in unplanned
pregnancies, and I should mention the sexually transmitted infections, as well as HIVs, and
AIDS. To abort a sexual transmitted disease is not as simple as going to an abortion clinic and
walking out without the trouble that has been conceived. Therefore, the fact of responsibility
should urge everyone to be aware before any action is taken, and to avoid terminating a
pregnancy.
When I decided to choose this topic more and more advertisement, television shows, and
in social media talked about abort. Then one evening when returning home from dinner with my
family, a group of pro-life protesters were standing by the side of the road with big posters
showing ripped apart bloody fetuses totally broke my entire feelings and my heart shrunk. The

pictures showed every facial and physical detail of the fetus, so much details that the facial hairs
could be clearly contemplated. A little faces flesh from its cheek was hanging, and little fingers
broken with their perfect nails well developed along with arms and legs. One of the protester
holding a speaker phone announced, Where are the people of the church who chooses life? I
rolled down my window to shout out Im here, Im with you, and I support life. I urged
everyone out there; to make a change to save the unborn who do not have a voice.
