The article, Pollution-Related Oxygen Loss in Tropical Pacific Ocean,

gives us important information about the Pacifics Ocean health. According to
the researchers, oxygen levels in the tropics are falling due to the industrial
activities of the coast East of Asia. These industrial activities, pollute the air
and raise the levels of iron and nitrogen, affecting marine ecosystems
thousands of kilometers away. The changes these tropical ecosystems, from
which many populations worldwide feed, suffer, lead to other mayor changes
in their habitats.

How the excess of carbon
emissions has caused an increase
in leafy green vegetation all over
the surface of the earth.

The news article, Earth Gets Greener as Globe Gets Hotter, provides us
information about the climate changes our planet has been suffering in the
past years. Earth is becoming greener, but this is not necessarily good; in
fact, according to the researchers, its a precursor for other worrisome
climate changes. Plants use carbon dioxide to grow, a process called
photosynthesis, therefore the increase in carbon dioxide seems to be related
with the greening of the planet. Currently, places that were covered in snow
or sand are now covered with green foliage. These changes affect the cycling
of water, causing a rise in the sea levels, and other worrisome dangerous
weather such as global warming, melting glaciers, etc.

Prediction for the 2100

A recent study, by US climatologist James Hansen, predicted that sea

levels will rise several meters by the end of the century. Sea levels have
been rising at an accelerating rate since 1990; so far, a rise of 30cm per
year has been observed. According to the study, we have two mayor
contributors, which are: Thermal expansions and Artantic ice. Thermal
expansions are what cause the greening of the land, while Artantic ice
causes ice-sheet disintegration and loss of ice from glaciers. The study
forecasted a rise of about 80cm by 2100, if measures are not taken to
prevent it.
