Students will identify different coins as
the teacher asks the questions. They will
hold them up.
Some of the questions include:
Hold up a nickel.
Hold up a dime.
In the space in front of you make 25cents
without using a quarter.

By doing a simpler pre-assessment it will


get the students more time to focus on the
activity of the day. Also by doing it this
way students do not see it as an
assessment but it is more like a game.

Description
Pre-Learning Stage: (5 minutes)
For a quick review of money, each
student will get a collection of assorted
coins. The teacher will ask the students
to: hold up a nickel, a penny, and a coin
worth ten cents. Then they will be asked
to show how to make 25 cents by using
different coins (no quarters).
