Godefroy
Was a hair stylist.
Invented the hair dryer in 1890.
Cost about 11.50 dollars
Took inspiration from a vacuum
cleaner.
Invented it for usage in his parlor.
Was not portable or handheld.
Could be used only with a
women sitting underneath it.

DEVELOP

April 30 1890
First hairdryer invented by French
stylist, Alexander F Godefrey.
A large, seated version
Consisted of a bonnet attached to
the chimney pipe of a gas stove.

March 5 1920
The Hamiltom beach company
developed the first portable,
handheld hair dryer.
Made of Steel and Zinc weighing
more than two pounds.
Did not dry hair very fast and
properly because they produced
only 100 watts of heat.

March 17 1920
First money profit.

March 5 1950
Was the soft bonnet style hair dryer.
Had a long hose attachments.

March 5 1951
Production of the rigid-hood dryer.
Was hard, plastic helmet that went
over the head.

March 5 1970
During the 1970's the sale for hair
dryers shot up.
Men began to use them.
In the 70 guidelines for the hair
dryer was made to make sure it
was safe to manufacture.

March 5 1974
A hair dryer money profit for the
"OSTER" hair dryer came out.

March 8 1982
Hair dryer in the 80's came out.
Was hand held and portable
designed with five accessories.
Had a concentrator nozzle for faster
drying.

March 8 1990
the 90's advanced portable hair
dryers had 1500 watts of heat.
Improved plastic and new insulating
materials made hair dryers light
weighted.

March 11 1991
1991 there was a law that all dryers
must use a ground fault circuit
interrupter so it won't electrocute a
person who gets wet.

March 7 2000
By 2000 deaths in a year due to hair
dryers.
Dropped to less than four people a
year
A certain type of dryer was made for
an effective treatment to head lice.

March 8 2013
Todays hair dryers produce up too
200 watts of heat.
Dry hair faster than before.
They are designed so it weighs less
than a pound and look sleek and
stylish.
