Domestic Policy Summary:
Over the past few years, subsidized private health insurance has changed health
care for the better. President Barack Obama enacted the Affordable Care Act back in
March of 2010, and the new law has opened up a vast amount of opportunity for those
who did not have health care coverage. It has been a longstanding issue of big insurance
companies remaining on top of the health care business, and not all Americans are
covered under health insurance due to money, status, or other circumstances. However,
the Affordable Care Act extends Medicaid to more Americans and also helps to prevent
people from losing their coverage. The infamous donut hole from President George
Bushs term will also be filled, and medical research will be funded to provide greater
treatments to illness. Although the Affordable Care Act is expected to cost over nine
hundred billion dollars over the next decade, the federal budget is expected to improve by
over one hundred billion dollars. According to the article Affordable Care Acts Many
Benefits by writer Kathleen Sebelius, over two million people have taken advantage of
the new law where they are allowed to stay under their parents health plans until the age
of twenty-six. From the same article, the people helped by the Affordable Care Act
reaches a grand total of over one hundred million. However, the law does not only help
Americans who are lacking in health insurance coverage; tax credits are being provided
to small-business owners, which helps them keep their health coverage as well. The
Affordable Care Act evidently benefits the United States and provides hope for those who
fear illness and emergency medical issues due to their lack of financial status or other
barring circumstances. This law has and will continue to change lives for the better.

Foreign Policy Summary:
After the end of the Cold War, the United States continued to face many issues
concerning the countrys security. To this day, the war on terrorism continues to be one of
the more controversial topics in United States history because of the different methods of
which the country is able to combat against it. America has seen many types of ways to
deal with terrorism, which have included military responses and intelligence operations.
The country was put into a state of devastation and desperation to fight against terrorism
after the September 11th attacks in 2001, and the immediate response was to use military
force. This has unfortunately spiraled the United States shady history with torture and
the immoral tactics that the government has used to collect information from terrorist

prisoners. Although military responses have shown a degree of success with President
Obamas successfully planned raid in Yemen and Afghanistan-Pakistan, it has become
apparent that perhaps a military response is not the best way to go. There is the other
option of intelligence operations, where terrorists are exposed and arrested before they
are able to carry out their plans. This differs from the military response of attacking and
killing terrorist leaders. Intelligence operations can also reach a better outcome in terms
of limiting the homegrown terrorists. In fact, President Barack Obama has recently acted
in a response towards terrorism in a In the article Obama On Terror from Politico,
writer Ben White describes that President Barack Obama has supported a bill that would
limit people on the no-fly list from purchasing guns. The no-fly list was created by the
Terrorist Screening Center, and is a literal list of people who are not allowed to board an
airplane traveling in or out of the United States. However, this bill presents controversial
issues concerning the constitutional rights of those on the no-fly list. Although gun
control is one of the more discussed topics of possible methods, the United States
continues to debate on what is the best way to address the longstanding war on terrorism.
