The Report shows the efforts that many


entities are making in facilitating online
environments. Entities are offering more
online as well as hybrid course since
they are more appealing to a larger
amount of participants. The flexibility
and easy accessibility makes these
platforms more appealing than the
regular face to face classes. At the
same time, while engaging on online
learning, students are developing their
skills in areas such as problem solving,
communication and knowledge of
subject matter.

Reflection

DeAnda teachers are taking advantage


of PD offered online. We have a
platform that supports our dual
language program called VIF. VIF is an
online component that allows our
teachers to be part of a global
community so they can take learning
into our classrooms. I feel that we still
have a long path to travel before we can
say that our students are autonomous
and fully engaged in this type of setting.
However, because of the VIF online
training sessions, DeAnda teachers
have been able to open doors to other
cultures and countries that otherwise
our students would have no access to.

Reflection

The Horizon Report discusses how


many universities are using data,
collected through the different online
environments, to evaluate and support
the design of programs that not only
meets the needs of learners but also
taps on their preferences. At the same
time, the data collected assist in the
development of programs that help
instructors assess knowledge of subject
matter through peer collaboration
instead of simple memorization of
concepts.
This semester, I have had the
opportunity to learn about different
platforms, which have improved my
knowledge about technology. I have
discovered that I need to support my
teachers by offering more professional
development that will walk them
through programs that the district wants
them to implement while taking into
consideration their own likes and
needs.

Reflection

The Report states that colleges and


universities have to lead the way to
online learning. However, many are
staying behind because lack of funding
and/or administrative support. Therefore,
stakeholders need to stay relevant on
the latest trends in technology so that
they can offer professors the needed PD
to facilitate delivery in the class.

The assignments that involve group


work have allowed me to gain a better
understanding on how technology can
be implemented in my field. At the same
time it has given me a sense of urgency
to gain more knowledge before talking to
the teachers about using online tools
that the district wants us to put in to
practice.

Reflection
The Horizon Reports address how important it is to provide quality professional development
sessions for educators. Many entities are falling behind because they lack the professional
development needed as well as administrative support.
Even though I am considered a reading coach at DeAnda Elementary, reading is not the only
subject teachers ask me to help them with. Technology is an essential part of their reading block
since many of the reading components involve online platforms. These platforms demand my
knowledge so that I can prepare my teachers to be successful in class. As I read the Horizon
Reports, I realize that I have to seek for more professional development sessions that will allow me to
prepare myself in order to better assist teachers in their endeavors.
