Reflections
Sometimestheonlythingstoppingyoufromdoingsomething,isyourself.There
aretwopoemsentitled"WhereI'mfrom:MUSICEDITION"and"Peopleaskme".Both
aretruestories aboutpointsinmylife.
"Peopleaskme",isaboutmydepression.IttookovermylifetoapointwhereI
couldn'tfunctionanymoreandIcouldn'tbreakoutofit.IkeptgettingworseandIkept
spiralingintoadeephole.ItwaslikeIwassinkinginquicksandandIkeptreachingout,
butnoonewouldgrabme.WhereImfrom:MUSICEDITIONisallaboutwhat
eventuallypulledmeoutofmydepression.
Lookingback,Iknowhowtoimprovesomeofmyvocabulary.However,Istill
admirethemessageIconveyedtothereader,itskindofmelancholic,andoverall
depressing,butwritinghelpedmethroughaterribledepression.Ivelearnedthatwriting
ismycopingmechanismformydepression.Writingandmusiccombinedmakesmewho
IamandIveneverbeenmorehappyofthepersonIhavebecomesincethen.Thanksto
myfriends,family,andteacherswhohavetaughtmetheliteraryandartisticdevicesto
writingsongs,poems,andcomposingmusic.

Ifoundthepowerofwordsandcombinedthatwithabeatandoutcame"Where

I'mFrom:MUSICEDITION".WhereI'mfromisabouthowmusicsavedmylife.It
allowedmetoexpressmyfeelingsandpleadouttoothers.Italsoallowedmetorelease
allthepainandsorrowIfeltintoasingleidea,asinglesong.
Lookingback,Irealizethatwithoutthepowerofwords,IdontthinkIdbehere.
AlthoughthesearereallyoldexamplesofpoemsIvewritten,theystillexpresswhoI
am.ImsoproudofhowfarIvecomeandwhatIhavetolookforwardtointheyearsto
come.
Musicisabiginfluenceonmylife,aswellaspeople.Withoutthepeoplearoundme,
musicwouldn'thavesavedmylife.IthankpeopleandtrytobethebestpersonIamto
peoplebecausetheybasicallysavedme. Lookingbackonthesepoems,IseethatI've
conqueredalotovertheyearsandmadethisplacebetterforme,andothersaroundme.

Thesearesomeofmyprojectsfrompreviousyears.Somewerewithmandatory
vocabularywordsourEnglishteachersforcedustodo,otherswereshortstoriesto
showcaseourskillsattheendoftheyear,andsomearepoemsthatI'veworkedoninmy
sparetime.
TheDocumententitled"DearKids"isaguidelineforahealthproject,Our
assignmentwastomakeashortskitorlettertoourfuturechildrenonwhytheyshouldn't
dodrugs.
Ineverwanttohavekids,butputtingmyselfinthatparentingmindframehitmehard,
andIsteppedintoaparentsshoesandtookitkindofseriously.
Thishaschangedmyperspectiveonpeopleandwritingingeneral.Youhavetoget

intoyourcharacterandunderstandhowharditcanbetogiveintotemptationandselfish
concerns.Thisshowsputtingitallasideandhelpinganotherperson.Lookingback,I
realizedIhavegrownmoreintelligentofthedrugsandsideeffects.Thiscouldbeadded
totheletter.Also,IhaveabetterunderstandingonpeerpressureandtheexperiencesIve
hadwithitcouldbeagreatadditiontotheletter.

Ontheverybottomisapoementitled,DarkCircus.Thiswaswrittenbackin7th
grade.Icantrememberthepurposeofwritingthispoem,butIremembermyinfluence.
TherewasaJapanesesongIlistenedtoawhilebackcalledDarkCircus:English
sub,andIwasinfatuatedwiththebackgroundofallthecharactersandthestories
theyvetold.Everybitofthesongwasbackgroundofthedifferentacts,andthe
performersdarksecrets.
Lookingback,IrealizedImademanyspellingerrors,andsomegrammarmistakes,
buttheoverallideaisgood.Ithauntsthereaderandmakesthemwonderaboutwhata
circusisreallylike.IfIcouldchangeonethingaboutthispiece,itwouldbetherhyme
schemeIdecidedtouse.Somelinesswitchedoffalittletoomuch,andIwouldhave
likedtoseeaconsistencyinmywork.

TheDocumentwithoutatitlethatstartswithaprologueisentitlesMCIU,based
offthepopulartelevisionshowNCIS.Ihavetoconfess,theideaofsolvingmurders
enticedmeandmademethink.Ilikedhoweverypieceofevidencefitintoonebig
motive.Thescientificaspectsalsoenticedme.

Thisstoryisaboutateamofmilitaryinvestigatorswhoworktotakedownamurder.
Theofficegetsintoheateddebates,abitofromance,andanepiloguethatcontainsmore
informationonthecharacters.
Lookingbackatthestory,IthinkIcouldhavebeenbetteratgivinganending.I
definitelyreachedtheromanticaspect,butIcouldntquitegraspthetechnicalaspect.IfI
couldchangeonethisaboutthiswork,Iwouldhavethereaderfollowthewholeteam
throughtotheendandwhentheycatchthekiller.Overall,Iamimpressedwiththework
Iputintothisstory.Itwassolongago,andsixthgradeZoeshouldgetpropsforhaving
thiskindofwriting.

Theproject,entitledHisMajesty,wasassignedtomebymy7thgradeEnglish
teacher,whohasguidedmyhandwhenIcreatedthesestories,anditisbyfaroneofthe
mostfunshortstoriesIvewritten.Thispromptinparticularwastowriteabouta
narrativeaboutanalienwemadeup.Imadethisstoryaboutabountyhunternamed
Zurinaandheradventure.Thiswasbyfaroneofmyfavoriteshortstoriestowrite.The
descriptivedetailsleftalittleforyourimaginationtowander,anditwassomuchfunto
writetheintensefightscenes.
Lookingback,Icouldhavedefinitelyworkedonmygrammarandspelling.For
beingaseventhgraderthough,Iamproudofthisstoryline.Iwouldhavelikedtosee
moreofadialoguebetweentheantagonistandtheprotagonistthough.Whenthe
antagonistwasgivingherbackground,IwouldhavelikedtoseeZurinaspointofview
onwhysheemployedZurina,however,forabeginner,thisstorywasreallygood.

Overall,Ilovedwritingthiswork,thereweresometouchingmoments,andother
momentswhatwerentsotouching.Ilovewritingnarrativesandshortstories,theyhelp
creativity,andtheymakemefeelaccomplished.Thepromptgivenwassuchagoodthing
togooffofandIadmiremypeerscreativitygoingintothisproject.
