Summative Assessment & Rubric

Directions: Create a review article of at least 2 pages for the 3 poems we discussed in the unit:
The Passionate Shepherd to His Love by Christopher Marlowe, The Nymphs Reply to the
Shepherd by Sir Walter Raleigh, and Raleigh was Right by William Carlos Williams. You are
writing a poem review article for a reader that has little to no knowledge of the poems. Review
these 3 poems as if they were a movie you were reviewing. Include in the review a summary,
interpretation, and your opinion of the movie, as well as an introduction, conclusion, and at
least 3 body paragraphs. The main objective of this assignment is to display your understanding
of the poems and their interpretations, as well as what YOU think about them. Add quotes when
referencing specific parts of the poems. Think of the different perspectives you can write this in
for example, are you a writer in the 16th, 20th, or 21st centuries? Follow the guidelines set by the
rubric below and remember to have fun with this!
