Project
You will be creating a book of original poetry. You will also be performing at least one
poem at our poetry slam on Friday April 24th.
1. Your book of poems must have 6-8 poems. Each must have been through at least one
revision/editing process and must be final copy. Hand written is fine as long as it is
neat and presentable.
2. Each poem must have a dierent form/structure. You can write all the haikus you
want, but you can only submit one for final grading. You can find many forms and
structures in the tub at the front of the room.
3. Each poem must include at least one poetic device.
1. Sounds of Words: Alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, repetition, rhyme,
rhythm
2. Meanings of Words: Analogy, Clich, Contrast, Hyperbole, Metaphor,
Oxymoron, Personification, Pun, Simile, Symbol
