Students understand the unevenness of the troops and experience came to the
Colonists downfall

A. The Lesson
1. Introduction (5-10 minutes)
What happened at the battle of Bunker Hill?
How many British soldiers were there?
How many Colonial soldiers were there?
o Show the ratio
Today were going to reenact the battle of Bunker Hill
o With the ratio
Figure the ratio for the class
Class does the math
With this ratio we will split up into groups of 8
o Count every 3 for 3 groups of 8

Group 1 will go up on the playground with balls


o Why?
Class will come up with Colonists had higher ground

Group 2 and Group 3 will have balls too


o They will have more for experience and more ammo
o The balls represent bullets
Once hit you must stop and come down
Last one standing wins
We will rotate
Now can the Colonist win?
o Yes, this is just a game

2. Content Delivery (25 minutes)


Bring students outside
o Set up Group 1
o Groups 2 and 3 are down below
o Last one standing wins!
Repeat at least 3 times

3. Closure (5-10 minutes)

Bring back to class


o How many times did the British win?
o How many times did the Colonists win?
British should win most if not all
