Theme for Lesson Plan: Animals
Grade Level: Third Grade
Language Level: Intermediate Fluency

Subject Area 1: Art

Co: The students can have discussion about the topic about the animals. The students can bring
their list of questions to ask the teacher. The teacher will prints out the animals, and the students
will able to recognize what type of animals and add the color with primary colors.

Lo: I will address the students about the book that we will read, Magic School Bus by Explores
The World of Animals. A teacher would take the class to the zoo where they can know what
they had studied on. It is a basic understanding the animals look alike. After the class is back
from the zoo, the class can discuss more, and to write their own experiences in their journal to
express what was like at the zoo.

Subject Area 2: Language Arts

Co: The students can relate to classified into two major groups: vertebrate and invertebrate
animals. The students can learn vertebrate animals that have a backbone or spine but the
invertebrate animals that include all animals without backbone or spine. I will print out the
papers for groups that into vertebrate/invertebrate, then to cut it out the picture, then glue to
chart. I will use the words box to help identify the animals.

Lo: The students will listen to teacher to know what type of animals while the students can
figure out the animals in the chart while the group of students can dicuss to where place the
animals, major group, name, and picture. This is good start for the child to know about the
animals more, and can have more discussion about the animals.

Interaction: The students will focused on their dicussion to look on the video, and what they
think. After the video is over, the students can dicuss more on the table with questions, and that
gives more confident to learn to speak English. The teacher will give answers for them who

wanted to know more about the animals. It is very simple teaching lesson for them to interact
which gives more information.

Grouping Patterns: Students can work on the small group and try to know each animals name
on vocabulary wall chart. This gives for the students to use the vocabulary words in their writing
and gives more higher level thinking in writing. The teacher will introduce the topic, and the
students will able to work together with their table group to dicuss about their animal.

Wait time: Before, the students can learn, I have to list those questions and let the students to
write in the journal and dicuss right after they are done and can talk with their parter to dicuss on
animal topics before we will read the Magic book and then we can take a field trip to know what
animals look like.

Language Support: Before the students read the book, we want to make sure their language has
the support. I will ask students during the dicussion to know whats the meaning of each colors,
and to know what animals is it. This will gives so much better for their reading and writing
comphrension.
