Statement of Intent
Ever since I began going to school, I have never stopped dreaming about the day
school would stop being a requirement of everyday life and to do whatever it is I want to
do as an adult. Now that Ive grown and matured more than what the elementary me
thought would be a life of easy luxury after school, I found a passion that I want to
pursue. Engineering, it never once occurred to me once before however studying the
subject has made me want to pursue knowledge about the subject and perhaps even
find a job in that field.
During my four years of education at Buckingham I have tried to take up as many
opportunities to prepare for life after school as I could. Buckingham offers coaches
corner after school where students would be allowed to work on assignments and catch
up on missing work. Whenever I could I would spend the time necessary to complete
assignments that were assigned to us. This allowed me to take responsibilities of the
tasks that my superiors, my teachers, bestowed upon me to complete which would
undoubtedly help me in becoming a more successful adult and member of society.
It was during my Junior year of High School when I was given a glimpse of reality
in my S.T.E.M class. During a class wide project known as Rube Goldberg Night, I was
assigned to being project manager of my particular period. Although it may not seem as
a grand task, to me, it was the first time any responsibility was truly left up to me. When
people actually needed my help and advice to get the machine working right. It offered a
view into the life of someone who did this for a living. Our class succeeded in making

the Rube Goldberg machine work through teamwork and collaboration, it was difficult
but because buckingham had allowed us to hold the event it opened up mine and fellow
students eyes to responsibility and cooperation. I hope I will be able to bring these traits
to my future workplace and schooling.
During the first two years of high school, I was not the best student, I did horribly
academically. I didnt pass over half of my classes and nearly switched schools because
of my grades. In Junior year I began to change this around to make my grades become
positives. I began getting Bs and Cs in my junior year which was extremely better than
the Fs i would get each semester during my previous two years. I owed it to my
teachers to get my grades up, they werent going to have any of my laziness be an
excuse for my grades. They pushed me to have the current work ethic that I do now and
made me appreciate the work they put into everything my teachers would do for us to
try and expand our knowledge of the subjects they taught. Currently I have the best
grades Ive had throughout all of high school and most of my years of education and
because of this Ive realized the potential I have as a student.
Buckingham has prepared me for life beyond high school and I am glad to have
been able to have had these experiences with teachers and leaders willing to show us
how to accomplish our goals. I plan on going to Solano to pursue my Engineering
degree by taking advanced math classes so that I meet the prerequisites to be able to
go to Cal Poly and pursue a career in Agricultural Engineering.
