Introduction
You are an apprentice programmer working for a software development company called Ace
Development. As part of training you have been given a contract by your boss to develop a mobile app
for Tech-IT. I will be listing two applications and explain the features and uses of them.

Task 1 Application One Outlook Mail

Basic Use
The first mobile application I will be talking about is the Outlook Mail application. The target audience
for this application is anyone and everyone who uses email, whether it be Google Mail, Outlook Mail,
Yahoo or even AOL mail. All are compatible with this app and anyone who has an email account should
have this application.

Purpose
The applications purpose is to make email easier for the user by having their emails available at one
touch on the application icon. It is designed to be easy to use so people can stay in contact with
friends, families and companies wherever they are.

Platform
The Outlook app is a multiplatform application which is available on ALL devices such as Apple phones
(iOS), Android phones, Blackberry phones and Windows phones. This makes the Outlook app incredibly
versatile as it can be accessed on any device that people have (assuming that most people own one of
these four phones). Outlook can also be accessed online on an Apple Mac computer and a Windows
computer. It is available on all operating systems and thats what makes this Email app the best on the
market, its also free.

Hardware
Although it is not paramount for the application to have features such as the camera feature, the
application would not be fully functional if it couldnt have access to it. In order for the app to be fully
functional, it must have access to all things such as camera and photo album. To connect to the
internet, for example, an iPhone needs and comes with a chip installed called an NFC. This allows the
phone to connect with the phone carriers internet service, the phone connects to certain speeds of
internet such as 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, ac being the fastest. It also must access your storage in your
phone so it can get access to OneDrive documents, email addresses, calendar and tasks that your
phone has saved.

Interface
The house style of the Outlook app has the title of each mailbox that you are looking at positioned at
the top of the screen at all times to show you what youre looking at. The sidebar that opens up shows
you all available mailboxes which lets the user know that its all a part of the same thing. It also shows
the user what account they are currently using, this is always displayed in the left sidebar.
The screen layout for Outlook is clearly displayed into what mailbox the user is looking at and it shows
all emails either in a focused list or in an other list. You can filter these into emails which have been
flagged, unread or have attachments to them, this is displayed in the top right of the screen. The
navigation is extremely easy as all options are set up to be under a category like filtering, you can
access different mailboxes by clicking the
symbol in the top left corner which shows all

mailboxes that you have. You can also access your Calendars, Files, Contacts and Settings which are all
clearly displayed along the bottom of the screen which go horizontally. The navigation is very clear and
different options are placed in convenient places across the screen.
The graphics used in the Outlook app are very straightforward and are limited to just a small icon of
the Outlook logo which is located in the sidebar in the top left, this allows the application to have more
space for content rather than lots of graphics. The graphics and photos are also loaded in emails which
loads up a new page which comes up after selecting an email. Photos are not used in the Outlook
application unless its in an email, this is so it doesnt make the application look cluttered.
Animations and videos arent used in the application unless it provides a link directly to them via the
email itself. Sounds are optional in the app and they are very limited as they only play a tone when an
email is sent or received, these can be enabled and disabled in the settings which is located in the
bottom right of the app.

Interactivity
All of the app is done by touchscreen which makes interaction a lot easier as the user simply has to
touch on the screen on their desired option in which it will then take them to that screen. All
technology in terms of activity on the application is touch screen, from sending an email to changing
your settings, viewing calendars and viewing contacts. When sending an email, the keyboard will come
up across the bottom of the screen, you will get the option to also use speech capture and you can talk
your email to your phone and it will write up the email for you as you speak it. This is the diversity that
this app provides as you have so much to do with just a simple email application.

Integration
The Outlook application supports most, if not all, domain names and you can simply add multiple
accounts by going to the settings tab and then by selecting Add Account. This allows you to integrate
other email domains into this one app so you can use one app for all. This app does not have to use
location services to let you use the app, it can access your camera roll and camera so you can attach
and send photos.

Application Two Bet365

Basic Use
The second mobile application I will be talking about is Bet365, the target audience of Bet365 is people
aged over the age of 18 who have their own will of betting on sports, tournaments, eSports, racing and
much more.

Purpose
The purpose of Bet365 is for people to gamble and place bets on teams, people, horses or any other
sport imaginable to win money. It offers deals and price boosts which entices people to use the app
and spend more money on the app which results in the company making more money from its
customers.

Platform
Bet365 is another application which is available on all platforms from Apple (iOS), Android, Windows
phones and Blackberry phones, the being multiplatform as it is, it offers more people the opportunity
to gamble using their app which is good marketing as it is available on all types of smartphone. It is
also a web application which branches out Bet365 as a betting company because if someone doesnt
have a smartphone but they want to use Bet365, they can go online and use their website as well.

Hardware
To connect to the internet, for example, an iPhone needs and comes with a chip installed called an
NFC. This allows the phone to connect with the phone carriers internet service, the phone connects to
certain speeds of internet such as 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, ac being the fastest. Things such as the CPU and
graphics card are needed for all mobile applications to run properly, the application also has access to
your storage.

Interface
Upon opening Bet365, the logo appears in the middle of the screen, in bold white and yellow text.
Bet365 has the staple green as its background theme for the app whilst all text remains in either white
or yellow. By clicking the
symbol in the top left of the screen, it will open up the sidebar which
shows all sports and options available to bet on and at the top of the screen, it still shows the brand
name in all white above the options.
The screen layout is evenly broken up game by game on the home page of the application as it shows
all in-play games. Along the top bar that goes horizontally across the screen, it shows the options A-Z,
In-Play, the logo at the top middle. My Bets and an icon of your profile which displays your balance.
Just below that top bar, it displays all sports that have games upcoming such as football, tennis,
basketball, baseball and golf. By clicking on the A-Z option, it displays the sidebar which shows all of
the available sports to you. The options in this sidebar are Sports, In-Play, Gaming and Offers.
Having such a clearly structured application assists the user greatly as it is straightforward and displays
all options that you need which you can locate with no problem. This makes navigation as easy as
possible for the user as they can easily browse the application and they can have freedom without
encountering confusion or advertisements to disrupt the user.
Jack Voisey

Jack Voisey
The application uses touch screen technology like most apps nowadays and everything can be selected
by a tap on the screen, it has no clickable buttons on screen apart from the home button on the actual
device. The graphics used in Bet365 are quite simple but effective as above the title of each sport on
the home page, it shows a small icon of the sport which is effective for the user as it easily tells the
user what theyre looking for. Locating sports shouldnt be an issue. Sounds and videos can be used in
certain games on Bet365, some games have an option in the top right to Watch which means you can
watch the game that you are currently looking at. This feature allows users to view games and review
them if they have a bet placed on them.

Interactivity
The interactivity in Bet365 feels very clean, smooth and it has a fast response time to your actions.
Touch screen technology allows interactivity to be a lot simpler than most apps because you decide
where you want to go and you navigate by clicking on whatever option you want. Entering text or
numbers is simple as after selecting a game to bet on, you click on the field that shows STAKE, after
selecting this, a number pad will come up on screen which the user can enter their desired stake on
the game. There is not an option for voice recognition in Bet365 which is a benefit in some ways as it
could detect your voice incorrectly and place the wrong stake.

Integration
Bet365 integrates with some standard features on the phone such as location services and text
messaging. It uses location services as a way to check that you are eligible to gamble in your country,
it will find your location and will either verify you or not. If location services are disabled in general, the
application does not load up and will give you an error message and two options, Retry and Settings.
These two options allow you to go to the settings menu and change your location services settings then
when you go back onto the application, you can retry and it will re-check your location. Text messaging
is an option available to you so Bet365 can send you promotional offers directly to your phone which
you can then redeem in the app while depositing by entering a promotional code.
