Observation Task 2

On The Move
Focus: On the teacher
Objective: For student teachers to look at three aspects of the
teachers use of her body:
(1)teaching space, (2) eye contact and (3) body language.
Focus questions about data collected
1. In the square shade in the teacher space that the SST used. Suggest
reasons why you think the teacher used the classroom space in this
way?

Carpet
table
The teacher uses a specific area in her class for specific
activity. For example, I observe the class of grade one and I
see that the teacher use 3 areas for her students. The first
area for whole class to explain the main points of the lesson
where it is in front of the board on the carpet. The second
area is desks, it is for an assignment. The last area is a
small table at the last class, the teacher explains any things
for her students or to correct the students books. Each area
is important whether the teacher or the student because the
teacher can control students and at the same time using
different are encourage student and make them more
interactive to learn.
2. Describe the eye contact of the teacher you observed.
The teacher uses her eye contact at the whole class for
every student in her class to tell them that she trusts in
them and she listens to everyone and to identify the level of
each student.
3. Which areas of the room and which learners did the SST focus on?
What are possible reasons for this?
Always the teacher invites student to stay on the carpet
which were in the first of class in front of the board. In this

place student be more attention and the teacher can control


them
4. Which areas and students did she not make eye contact with? Give
possible reasons for this.
Maybe when the each student been at his desk to complete
the assignment teacher can not contact everyone . Because
when she moves around them, she sees that some students
do not understand and stay with them to help them, until
she sure that they are understandable. While other student
who are finishing early be very noisy and they affect into
their friend and distract them to complete the assignment.
5. Which type of body language did the teacher mostly use?

Hand.. To ask each group to come and sit on the carpet To draw characters or animals - To encourage students to
get the answer
Eyes.. To warn the student with attention to her
important saying such as explain something important to
do it by self - To show them that she listened for
everything happen in class
Smile.. Sometimes she uses her smile to encourage them
and other time she opens her mouth to express that she
surprised and not agree with their works
Walk around the class.. To show interest for students To
support student to work
6. How helpful or confusing was her body language in conveying her
meaning?
She used her body language with all confused and the boys
were responds to her explanation quickly. In addition, using
body language makes students feel safe, supportive and
more effective with the teacher.
7. What might be the results of her moving into different spaces in the
classroom?
Each student warns that teacher will see him surprised and
they are working hard and sometime they are in competition
who will finish first to take the three stars and happy
face. In addition moving in different area of the class is
important to show the students that she is interesting for
everyone.
8. What were the overall effects of the SSTs eye contact?
All boys are attention to the teacher and teacher always use

her eye for boys who are very noisy to stop or to give him a
punishment like the boys picture outside the class any boy
make any move teacher dont like
