ANNOTATIONS

The following web pages show exemplary examples of the resources that can be
used for discussing the topic of behaviorism learning theory and the use of it for
an online course.

Weegar, M.S., & Pacis, D. (2012). A Comparison of Two Theories of Learning
Behaviorism and Constructivism as applied to Face to Face and Online
Learning.
In this paper, the authors discuss two theories of learning, comparing face to
face and online learning, to the theories of behaviorism and constructivism.
This website demonstrates excellent educational value because it thoroughly
explains both theories characteristics and why both would be good for online
learning. The website goes into indepth information about the behaviorism
theory giving background on this theory and also gives examples of
behaviorism in online instruction.

Criteria #4 (Quality)
http://www.irma-international.org/viewtitle/16683/
Cicciarelli, MarySue. (2008). Behavioral Theories that Guide Online Course
Design.
In this paper, the author discusses the aspects of behavirorist theory which
can be used when designing online courses. These aspects include; socialcultural model of learning, mastery learning, simulations, direct instruction,
theory of elaboration, and traditional instructional design theory. Only the
first three aspects are able to be read unless one pays to read the final three
pages of the paper for $30. The beginning of the paper is very well written
and gives very useful information for someone who wishes to discuss ways to
implement the behaviorist theory into online courses. There are specific
examples on how to implement the theory when designing a course. Even

one was to pay the extra $30 to read the entire paper, I believe it would be
very helpful for an assignment on the behaviorist theory.

This was another example of information that wasn't complete. You must
create an account to finish viewing the entire video. However, the beginning
portion of the video which one can watch, is very good and explains the
concepts very easily.

In this presentation, the authors discuss the multiple learning theories,
behaviorism, cognitivism, constructivism, and connectivism in which they
provide excellent educational and in depth information along with the use of
closed captioning. The goal of the presentation was to provide the best
learning theory for designing the structure of an online course.
