Asa supervisor for Medaille College I was able to observe Ayse Matay on fou
separate occasions during her two practice teaching assignments. Aysa’s first
‘was teaching a primary class at the grade 2 level followed by a junior assi
split grade 5 classroom. From the beginning, Ayse displayed an obvious enthusiasm
Jearning and growing in the role of student teacher. She was always professional and
mature in her approach to the position but had fun with the students. She was reflectiy
her teaching practices which highlighted her evident desire for personal professional
growth. As a result of my observations of Ayse and in consultation with her associate
teachers, it may be stated that she has had an outstanding practice teaching experience.
Planning and Preparation
= Ayse conscientiously prepared her lessons so that they contained achievable go
and measurable objectives. She endeavoured to align specific grade level
expectations with the Ontario curriculum with which she had become in
familiar.
“Ayse worked diligently to develop lessons that would be highly creative,
appealing to the students and that would stimulate and maintain their interest. She
endeavoured to incorporate technology into her presentations where it would
enhance learning, It was obvious that a great amount of time and thought was
expended to get the lessons just right.
fien used a theatrical approach to directed i
tion to the students and this was extremely s1s Ayse enforced consistent routines throughout the day. Expectations
delineated and disruptive behaviour was minimized through prompt and.
action. a
Ayse was also empathetic, friendly and caring with the students. She obviously
enjoyed teaching the children and was readily able to establish a positive rapport.
Asa result they responded with polite, attentive and respectful behaviour.
Ayse has a solid grasp of the skills required to be a successful educator and will
continue to refine them as she gains further experience. She proved to be a self
starter who was readily able to take the initiative. She was an active listener and
enthusiastic leamer and that indicates a positive future for Ayse in the teaching
profession. Ayse’s creative approach in her preparation and delivery of lessons was _
stimulating for the students and enjoyable to watch. She was even asked to
give a demonstration lesson for the school staff. As a result of Ayse’s outst
experience I strongly recommend that she is ready to immediately assume a tee
Position upon graduation and would be a valuable addition to any staff. I’m
to act as a reference for Ayse and can be reached at the number below.
